Arturia Pigments stuttering (KBDSW-7915)

Hi!

I am having the issues discussed here :

https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/28043/pigments-encoders-jumping-and-stuttering-values-when-used-through-komplete-kontrol?utm_source=community-search&utm_medium=organic-search&utm_term=pigments+

In short, Pigments work fine as regular VST3, but in KK in my DAW it stutters.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks.

Unfortunately this bug (/KBDSW-7915) is still in the backlog. Will try to get more info/timeline.

Heres a small update - Yearofthegoat posted a workaround here - apparently the VST2 version does not have the stuttering issue.

Could possibly have to do with this issue ? : Arturia Plugins stepping in KK (KBDSW-7915)

There is another thread over at Arturia than the one you have posted in over there which deals with sort of the same but the suggested solution apparently is some setting in the Arturia software. Also I do not have any S-Series MK3 setup so I can not test on a similar setup.

    What's your DAW?

I just tried to reproduce the issue, but things seem to work normally for me in my environment:

    Win10 22H2
    Cubase Pro 14.0.10
    Komplete Kontrol 3.3.4
    Pigments 6.0.1.5484

    Komplete Kontrol S61 MK3
    Agent Version 1.8.7 (R4)
    OS Version 1.8.7 (R8)

@PoorFellow i think it is exactly the same issue as KBDSW-7915. I don't see a solution or recent update though. I will try the suggested setting mentioned in the post at Arturia, but it seems it didn't solve the problem for him, and that post is from 2023. But fingers crossed, and hopeful Arturia have some new ideas too.

@nico5 Here is my config (can't check exact version right now):
    Win 11 24H2
    Cubase Pro 13
    Komplete Kontrol 3.3.4
Pigments 6 - latest i presume, fresh install 3 days ago.

KK S49 MK3 latest firmware from 3 weeks ago.
Not sure what agent and os versions are?

I'm at a loss, why it seems to be fine in my setup and messed up in yours, since our environments seem relatively similar.

One question maybe: Is the MK3 DAW port excluded from your Cubase MIDI "In all MIDI Ports"?

    Here's my Studio Setup:

And is it fair to assume you're not using any MIDI loopback virtual cabling, that's inadvertently creating some stray MIDI paths?

@nico5 I don't think any ports are excluded, this is my Studio Setup:

And no midi loopback that i know of. :-)

I should also mention, the stuttering also happens when using Komplete Kontrol standalone, exactly the same as using it inside the DAW.

I'm not sure whats going on either. I'm hoping NI or Arturia support can enlighten me. ;-)

if the problem also occurs in standalone, that’s indeed very weird and probably needs help from Arturia or NI.

However, you also want to disable the MK3 DAW port (it’s either MK3 port 2 or port 3) from “All MIDI inputs” in your Cubase settings. Otherwise much weirdness can occur. There may be a section in the MK3 manual on that.

    Check your audio interface settings.

If the settings got changed by accident, you can certainly hear stuttering.

@BIF thanks for the suggestion. I am not hearing stuttering though, it is only the knob turning that stutters. It's hard to explain. It's like if the KK keyboard and the KK software runs 10 fps instead of 30/60 fps, making it hard to control things precisely.

Same here. Only happens when Pigments is hosted in KK, either KK standalone version or KK in DAWs (Cubase, FL Studio, Reaper, Ableton Live 12 - all show this issue). Workaround is don't use KK.

I don't have this problem but has anyone tried changing the multicore settings?

Hey all, there was an update for Pigments lately, 6.0.1, did anyone try it out yet? Is this issue still present for you?

@Jeremy_NI I didn't notice the update, but my version is 6.0.1.5484, and i still have the issue.

@Kymeia so your Pigments runs at 60 fps within Komplete Kontrol, no lag at all? Interesting. I tried enabling Multicore, but it did not change at all. Outside KK it runs perfectly.

I was thinking it could be the USB transmission speed, but i don't see issues in any other synth within KK.

Yeah - when you load up the VST2 and turn the macro knobs, you can see the stepping is much finer than with the VST3, which looks like a staircase. This is KK standalone, by the way.
