How much would you charge to make a Linux version?
Hi,
Like many frustrated Linux users I realize that the new version of Kontakt (8) no longer works on Linux (using wine + yabridge). Up to Native Access 1.14 it was smooth and all working (probably because kept more simple) but since Native Access 2 it no longer works.
I just bought a new Kontakt license but I was forced to get a serial for version 8 when I need a version 7 which apparently is no longer sold, and you don't offer downgrades either (I would actually PAY for a downgrade!). I opened another thread about this and also tried to contact support, but no one seems to care… They don't even read the messages fully.
So this leads me to asking you, Native Instruments:
How much would you charge for me to pay your own developers to make a Linux version just like BlackMagic did an incredible Linux version of DaVinci Resolve, therefore showing a bit of respect for the numerous users in multimedia industries who run exclusively on Linux (they are far more than you imagine).
At my company (a Los Angeles based multimedia firm) every single computer runs on Linux, from video editing to audio, 3D, and so on. The idea that everyone in creative industries uses mac or windows is outdated. A lot of people in 3D industries in particular run on Linux (due to the amazing stability and efficiency of GPU tasks). And many of these people have to deal with audio as well.
If I can't pay that from my company's money (depending on the amount) then I could start a crowd funding and see if we can reach the amount all Linux users combined.
Please don't give me some PR-response like "We won't do that". Just forward to the right person in your company who can give me a number. There IS always a number because if someone was giving you $1B for it you would definitely take it, so what is that number?
Thanks.

Maybe the forum channel isn't the proper channel for these kind of proposal/deal.
Why not try reach them almost by linkedin?

I'm just a simple retired paediatrician and know nothing about these things. But I use Virtualbox to emulate Windows XP to run an obsolete photoprinter. And I did find this:
