DAW Integration Not Working (Mac Sonoma; ProTools 2024.3.1; Komplete Kontrol S61 MK3)

Hello!

I'm brand new here - hope you're all well.

I just unpacked my S61 and tried to connect it with my protools; I was dismayed to find that the 'transport' buttons don't work (i.e. play, rec, stop, etc.). Plus even though I've mapped the device in my DAW, it sends me this message (attached) every time I open the application.

Any idea on how to get thee FULL functionality from the S61?

Gratefully,

Zach

I see that issue was fixed by deleting the Pro Tools preferences. I'll put it here so it can help other users.

Please write down any needed user setting of yours  in Pro Tools, make a copy of that file before hand, then delete it:

    Macintosh HD/Users/user name/Library/Preferences/Avid/Pro Tools/Pro Tools Prefs

Note: the User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click on Go in the menu bar and press down the Alt key. You'll now find the Library entry in the menu:

super easy fix for me: I bought the updated keyboard for $700. LOL. BUT. I did discover that on my older mac the keyboard syncs with everything. I found an article on the Native Instruments website saying the the updates made it impossible for the old keyboard to work with the newer computer completely. So luckily I have 2 Macs (2018 iMac and a 2024 M2). and now I have 2 komplete kontrol keyboards that work completely - the new KK works with the M2 and the old with the iMac. Not ideal ($$) but it does work!

Uninstalling V-control (Neyrinck) helped. It was using MIDI to get and old Command8 running as a controller because Avid dropped driver support.

I know, I know, 2 controllers in one session was always going to be a long shot. Was hoping to use Command8 for deep protools integration and S61 mk3 for all the Komplete ultimate.

Just in case anyone else tries it….

Hey Jeremy - thanks. New to the community - maybe 'mapping' is the wrong word. The image attached is what I'm talking about. Under the 'midi controllers' section of the 'peripherals' dialogue box I assigned the correct 'type' 'receive' 'send' and 'channels'. So I don't think this is the issue as to why the transport controls aren't working.

I included screenshots above that indicate what message I'm getting from ProTools

For what it's worth, these people are having the same issue:

Your screenshot does not show what it should. Please refer to this article: How to Set Up a Kontrol Keyboard with Your DAW

    It should look like this:

I've seen some of the other posts and I also got back to you in one of these posts, have you tried the steps? Let's continuue there, ok? It will be simpler.

great - thanks Jeremy - I'm writing to you in the other thread. Sadly, as you'll see in the video there - I don't have any options to change the way the screen shot of the Peripherals dialogue box looks. The drop downs in the Midi Controllers don't afford any choice - they're locked on that 'DAW' choice.

I'm trying your other suggestions now regarding deleting the users settings - finger crossed

I am in the same position.

Latest MacOS (15.5) tried on 2 different laptops (M1 and M4) latest version of ProTools 2024.10.0 with an S61 keyboard.

I have trashed all PT preferences, restarted, reinstated the komplete kontrol under perferences>peripherals (it populates the 'received from' and 'received to' itself, is that correct?

I get DAW control for a bit, can move across a couple of tracks, then try it flakes out. Lights go off on the "browser' and "Plugin' button on the S61, so all I can do is scroall across the track window o the S61.

Firmware is up to date on the S61,l just checked, Native Access showing latest version of every bit of software.

This using Kontakt btw. Going to run through Komplete Kontrol plugin now and see exactly what that's doing.
