Kontakt app takes forever to load in Logic - not libraries, the actual sampler

Hi all,

I recently added a bunch of libraries to my Libraries tab in Kontakt and now it takes literally 10 minutes to open Kontakt in Logic. This is NOT about loading libraries, this is just opening Kontakt in Logic. This happens with both Kontakt 7 and 8.

Is there a way to fix this? Do I need to remove these libraries for Kontakt to open quicker? Please help!

    What's your operating system? If you open Kontakt in standalone do you experience the same issue? Do Kontakt and Logic have full disk access? How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

    Are your libraries installed on an external hard drive? What is the format of the drive?

    Hi Jeremy,

    My OS is Sonoma 14.2.1. Yes, Kontakt standalone experiences the same issue - it just took 18:55 to open the standalone. The program opens much earlier but then there's the spinning beach ball, so I can't work on anything until that stops which is 18:55. Kontakt and Logic do have full disc access.

    The libraries are on an external drive, which is a SanDisk Professional 36TB G-RAID.

    As I mentioned, I added a bunch of new libraries to the libraries tab, and that's when I experienced this slowdown, although it wasn't exactly super speedy before.

    The drive is formatted as APFS. The drive has about 33TB of data on it.

    Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.

    AFAIK RAID drives are not the best for Kontakt libraries. I'll try to get more info/insight on the topic.

    Let's check a couple of other things, do you use any kind of antivirus/firewall?

    Can you try to reset the database?

    Reinitialize the Kontakt Database

    1. Hold down the alt key on your computer's keyboard and click Go in the Finder menu bar. Choose the appearing Library entry in the drop-down menu.

    2. Navigate to Application Support > Native Instruments.
    3. Depending on the Kontakt version you are using, delete the following folder:
      Kontakt 5: "Kontakt 5"
      Kontakt 6: "Kontakt"
      Kontakt 7: "Kontakt 7"
      Kontakt 8: "Kontakt 8"
    4. Start Kontakt as a standalone application (not in your DAW).

    Does it improve the loading time of Kontakt as application?
