Where are vst files

I am new to midi in general and what a learning curve. Native Instruments is the first plug in giving me this much trouble. It is the new Scene: Saffron plugin

Problem:

Both the VSTPlugins 64 bit and VSTPlugins 32 bit folders are empty after download. The only place I see a library is in the preview folder. I can use the sounds in Kontakt 8 just fine and my daw mpc beats (desktop, pc) can see Kontakt but when I click on that as a plugin it has a list of empty midi channels (midi chan 1- and on etc)

Yes I have native access and Kontakt 8, computer is up to date.

some folks say mpc doesnt play vst3 but I have lots of others working but I should be able to see the files regardless no? So is that a problem with the download (i have reinstalled it several times) or is Native Instruments just making it absurdly difficult to use their content with other daws?

After installing a new plugin, it's usually necessary to have your DAW software rescan the VSTs (assuming it doesn't do that every time it starts, like Maschine).

[edit] Ah I see Kymeia is saying it's not a VST - so obviously you won't see any dll or vst3 files.

Follow up, the instruments folder in the scene saffron folder has only has a single kontakt nki file named scene saffron

I downloaded a drums kit to see and it has all the library listed. So Im thinking that the saffron file is bad but i dont know why it keeps doing it with every reinstall

Scene Saffron will not show as a separate plugin because it isn't one. It is a Kontakt library so as long as Kontakt is installed it should load in that.

Not enough info. What drum kit did you download? Are you expecting to see a load of WAV files in the Scene Saffron folder? That's not how instrument plugins work.

I more want to know why there are no files in the vstplugins folder from native instruments. I know the daw isnt going to see files that are not there

Kontakt is loaded. It plays the sounds. When I rescan in mpc the folder that the installation path in kontakt tells me its in, mpc seemingly doesn't even see the folder, its not scanning it at all. and when i follow the installation path from kontakt to the vstplugins it says the folder is empty

When i follow the installation path for the drum kit there is at least files in the content folders. Right now all i want to see is files in the folders. All i see is a single nki file. Is that what I should be seeing?

Because it's not a plugin - Kontakt is the plugin, Saffron is a library for Kontakt, you load the library in the Kontakt plugin

I expect to see files of something no? All other plug ins ive downloaded have some file to tell you whats in it. This is just one file that says scene saffron

See the post from Kymeia - it's not a VST, so you won't see dll or VST3 files.

Okay. So this is how the saffron folder should look when opened in windows?

so next question then is why does the Kontakt plug in not show it in the daw? Why does it just show a series of empty midi channels

OK I had a play around - and I can't even get MPC (or MPC beats) to see/load Kontakt!

    [edit] I was missing a VST folder C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\VSTPlugins 64 bit

It does seem that MPC software still doesn't support VST3.
