Scarbee Funk Guitarist displays perfect in Kontakt 6 but not in Kontakt 8?

Dear folks,
What do I need to do to make Scarbee Funk Guitarist, which used to look normal in Kontakt 6, look normal and workable again in Kontakt 8?
Please advise,

What OS and What DAW? - I've had this happen (not necessarily scarbee) and Ive found if I didn't have the track activated in Logic I'll get a wierd 1/2 baked window.

Hi Jojo,
I missed your message, apologies. I use Cubase 13 and Ableton.
I run both KONTAKT 8 and 5. Because it looks good in 5. But it would be nice
to have it work in 8 as well :-)
Cheers

Same problem here, Funk Guitarist looks normal in K6, no graphics in K8 Player?
Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 2, Intel Ultra 155H, 32GB, Intel graphics, W11 Pro 23H2

Just tested here and can confirm. It's a mess in Kontakt 8 Player (Windows 11).
No problems in Kontakt 7 (full).

Jeremy just offered a solution. I am going to try it out.

Mind to share the offered solution?
Never mind, find the answer in the other thread:
"Please try the following:
- After loading nki into K8, Navigate to "Editor view (wrench icon) -> Instrument Options -> Instrument
- Under "Resource Container" click on the envelop icon to open the Os file explorer
- Point to the NKR file inside of the content folder (where the library in installed on the system)
- Save NKI and reopen K8 + load NKI"
Will try tonight as I get home.

It did seem to work for me, but you can't do this from Kontakt 8 Player.
I had to use Kontakt 7 (full) to access the wrench and the required settings and even though the resource container was already set correctly, I pointed, saved, then opened in 8 Player and the GUI was displayed.
The question though is why was this even necessary?

Jeremy! It worked man, thank you very much!
For the folks who have not seen Jeremy's solution (it works great!), here it is:
- After loading nki into K8, Navigate to "Editor view (wrench icon) -> Instrument Options -> Instrument
- Under "Resource Container" click on the envelop icon to open the Os file explorer
- Point to the NKR file inside of the content folder (where the library is installed on the system)
- Save NKI and reopen K8 + load NKI"

"The question though is why was this even necessary?"
Most likely because of this announcement back in Fall 2022:
This specific instrument is a third party product and was withdrawn from NI several years ago.
Logically - it appears everyone is installing the "old" one (Pre-Sept 2022) that they already had as part of whatever version of Komplete they have and it's the last one that worked fine with Kontakt 7.
But as soon as K8 became available - and because this instrument is not being kept current by the third party and in lockstep NI's timeline now - stands to reason why it falls apart.
Hopefully Jeremy's workaround keeps this relevant a while longer.

What I mean is, it's a Kontakt instrument, so you'd expect it to just work in Kontakt - and for new versions of Kontakt to be backwards compatible (particularly with only one version back). Also as the "fix" is so simple, there's no reason IMO that it shouldn't work by default.

Well - if the instrument in question was 100% a NI product - I would agree. But third party stuff - not so much. Every third party needs to test ALL their stuff (eventually) when a new version of Kontakt comes out.
Just because something "worked" in a prior version of Kontakt does not guarantee 100% compatibility in a future version of Kontakt - especially when the "third party" is no longer a NI partner (as in this case)
Scarbee was clear this instrument was not moving forward under the NI banner back Fall 2022. I will guess it was never tested since then, there is clearly an incompatibility - and this workaround was a lucky break.
When it comes to Kontakt - I never assume anything given it's complexity and the well known "Band-aids and binder twine" 20 year old code that lurks beneath….:)

Well, the proposed solution doesn't work for me. I don't have neither K7 nor K8, only Player.
I'm still at Komplete Ultimate 13, so only Kontakt 6.

This should work perfectly in K6. As the thread title indicates?

It does, of course. But I'm wondering if I should update to K8 (full), in which case I'd rather use a single version of Kontakt which is sensibly more streamlined and memory efficient.
Anyways, apparently Scarbee is going to release an updated version of Funk Guitarist later this year which hopefully should work better in K8. ;)0 -
Well - you do what you gotta do - but don't do it based upon some old tired version of Funk Guitarist.
If it were me - I would at least be on K7.6.1 (or higher) given that all the current NI libraries in Komplete require it. But even K7 is retired.
And for the record - K8 is not exactly more streamlined and memory efficient (yet). It still has pile of issues, only one or two updates since release and the new design could be much more than you are used to given all of it's new bells and whistles.
I continue to use K7 at this moment almost exclusively within Komplete Kontrol. Good luck with your upgrade plans.
