Why does my Komplete Audio 1 keeps shutting down?

I recently bought a Komplete Audio 1 and went through the whole setup. Drivers are fine, power options and buffer are set up correctly, but every often, my interface shuts down, and the only thing that can fix it is to unplug it and plug it back, or to close and reopen any software that I'm using. I have seen this issue both in standalone software and using DAWs, and sometimes even playing media on my computer, without using any inputs, it shuts down as well. I'm all out of options. I have reinstalled the drivers, checked everything, and nothing seems to work.

Most likely because you are using your computer with its minimal options and your USB ports are seriously affected by that.

First of all, make sure you are using a High Performance power plan instead of the default Balanced

Then click the "Change plan settings" and then "Change Advanced Power Settings"

In the USB Suspend Settings choose "Disable"

Now go to Device Manager —> Universal Serial Bus Controllers

Check every one on the list, one by one. Some of them have a Power Management tab.

On each one of those, disable the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Restart the computer and you should be ready.

    Note:

Always remember (i write this for other users too). The default Windows settings were made for the average typical user, not for the musician (or the professional in general), and they are not fit, not even in the slightest, for a decent audio/video production.

Some users keep saying "but i have a 5GHz CPU and 128 Giga RAM!"… This has absolutely nothing to do.

If you have enable the option to turn off USB's to save power, then exactly this is going to be happen, even if you have a monster 100Ghz CPU and a million giga RAM. 😉

    Hi Sunborn,

Thank you for your assistance. I followed every step you said, and it worked for a while, but after a couple of minutes, it shut down again, and had to restart everything. Any other tips you may have?

Can you try to connect the device on a different computer and confirm if is working well there, or not?

Have you tried disabling the Exclusive Mode in Windows sound settings?
