Maschine Mk3 how to control external drumcomputer Roland TR8
Hi,
I managed to connect my Maschine Mk3 via midi to my Roland tr8 drummachine. When i press play on my Mk3, the Roland starts running and is in sync. I also get the sound back from my Roland.
But what i actualy want, is to control my roland tr8 on my Maschine Mk3. I saw some video's on Youtube of people controling external synths. I know that other dj's, like Reinier Zonneveld, sequence and control their old Roland 808/909 with their Maschine Mk2/Mk3.
I tried everything but for some reason it won't work.
What i did:
- In my Maschine Mk3 i have under settings "sent midi clock" and my input and output device are both the tr8. On both input and output de status is "on".
- On my Maschine Mk3 i loaded in group A under sub-types "midi ext." the Midi TR8 kit as a pluggin
- Now i see al the different roland tr8 sounds in group A.
- Under "channel midi" under "input" i made sure that under sounds, the audio source is "In 1 L+R". So i get the sound from the roland into my maschine.
- Under "channel midi" under "output" i selected "TR-8" under "midi destination" and selected channel 10 (that's the default midi input on the roland Tr8).
So now i expect that, for example, when i press pad 1 on my maschine (which is name BD TR-8, so bassdrum), i would hear the sound of my Roland TR8 bassdrum. Unfortunately it does not work.
Can anyone help?

Did you set up your Roland to Receive Midi?

I finaly made it work. Somehow, under midi channel in Maschine, i had to "search for the sound" under "transpose". I never read anything about this on any forum and did not see it in any youtube video. Anyhow, it works :)
But now i encounter de next problem: i want to sync my maschine to ableton live. Which works fine via Ableton Link. But as soon as i hit the Ableton Link button, there seems to be a bit of a "shuffle" from the roland tr8 which i am sequencing and controling with the Maschine. Mostly on the 4th note of a bar, i can clearly hear that it skips a beat (bassdrum of snaredrum).
As soon as i stop the Ableton Link connection, this "shuffle" stops and the Roland TR8 sequence via Maschine runs smooth again.
Is there any solution for this problem? As said, i only wan't to sync Maschine and Ableton, i don't want to sequence of control Ableton with my Maschine. I use the Maschien as standalone, but wan't my clips in Ableton be in sync with (mainly) the drums from my Maschine.

Isn't Ableton Link only to support syncing different devices? Somehow it interfers with my sequencing of my Roland via Maschine. I can imagine that if i would also sent midi from Ableton to my Maschine or Roland the different midi signals would cause this problem. But i am not sending midi from Ableton to Maschine or my Roland, becaus i disabled it under preferences.

For instance: see this video of Reinier Zonneveld on youtube called "Reinier Zonneveld | behind the scenes at livenow festival". From minute 2.18 you can see that he is controling and sequencing his Roland 909 with his Maschine. You can see that he then plays a kickdrum in Ableton live, and then he is adding drumspatterns with the Maschine. Than, in Ableton, he adds samples (loops) from a song. So he combines Ableton and Maschine in a very inspiring way. But how does he sync?
In this video "Reinier Zonneveld makes an acid techno track from scratch" on Youtube hs in the studio, and he explains that in de studio he is using Ableton Link, but live he is sequencing all his hardware through his Maschine. Still the same questing: how does he sync Ableton with Maschine.
