Since this seems to happen to several users, I'm trying to find someone who can reproduce the issue internally and reached out to the Kontakt team. Will share any info I get. In the meantime don't hesitate to contact Ableton and share what they answer here.

Also a question to you all: Do you know or remember what version of Kontakt was used in these projects?

Hey everybody, I run into the same problem - it's pretty much breaking a lot of projects. The only work around atm is removing all Kontakt plugins from the plugin folders. I've already opened a ticket at the Ableton support. From my point of view Ableton is not really crashing, just the UI of Kontakt is not clickable. This happened after Ableton updated to 12.1.1

Quick update from my side - I managed to download a fresh copy of 12.1.1 via this link (it may only work if you are logged in). I also don't know how much longer this version is available, so you may need to grab it quickly:

    https://cdn-downloads.ableton.com/channels/12.1.1/ableton_live_suite_12.1.1_universal.dmg

I haven't run into any issues opening projects I've created with Live 12.1.5 - so maybe downgrading may be the only solution for the time being.

Thanks for that, I defo tried this and had the same issue but on reflection I may not have deleted the newer version so it forced launching that. This time I moved it to bin and renamed it and opened the 12.1.1 and all seems to be well!

Good to hear that - you may need to double check the settings so Ableton does not auto-update ("Get Automatic Updates"). After I've downgraded it was set to "Always" instead "Never".

After copying back the Kontakt plugin files back to the VST3 / Components folders, I can click "OK" again. Weird issue - from my point of view this seems definitely like an Ableton issue. FYI - I use legacy Kontakt versions (6 and 7).

Just wanted to check in - has anybody gotten a response back from Ableton yet? It seems like they have closed my support ticket.

I'm having the same problem. I updated Ableton to 12.1.5 and Kontakt 7 to the version with the hateful 'new instruments for you' promo window. Now every file I open with an instance of Kontakt gives me the attached error message and doesn't allow me to press 'OK'

@lloydwayne my only solution was to downgrade to 12.1.1 and that fixed the issue for me. Not ideal if you have a bunch of projects that were created in 12.1.5.
