"Download Failed" in Native Access only when trying to download to external drive

I recently had an external hard drive fail that had all of my NI libraries on it.. So I'm currently trying to reinstall all of my content onto a different external HD, however when I click "install" I am immediately met with a "Download Failed" message, with no explanation why.

I've noticed when I set my content installation path to somewhere directly on my Mac, the issue no longer exists.. Why is that?

I've tried installing it onto my Mac and then moving the content over to my external hard drive manually, but then it seems Kontakt doesn't register the product.
