Kontakt 7 hangs during startup due to my dock's USB audio device

Hi

I am trying to solve an annoying issue. My Mac is connected to a Lenovo dock which I use to connect multiple montiors.

The dock has a built in audio device (Lenovo USB audio) which I cannot get rid of and always appear in the list of audio devices.

Whenever I start kontakt7, it hangs. I am sure its due to the Lenovo usb device. It works fine without the dock. I have no idea how to make Kontakt ignore this device. Is there some configuration option I can use ?

Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to do that from Kontakt but maybe you can disable the audio part of the dock? Have you checked on Lenovo's side?

Unfortunately no way to disable the device from Lenovo side. Question is why kontakt is hanging when its not even selected as the output device ?

And from your Windows system? Is there a way to disable the audio for this device?

Did you get the chance to choose an audio driver for Kontakt or you could never get that far?

If not maybe give this a try, this should reset settings to default.

Delete the Kontakt User Registry Folder

    1. Click the Windows Start button and enter "regedit" into the search field. Then select Registry Editor from the results.
    2. In the Registry Editor, open the following directory:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Native Instruments
    3. Depending on the Kontakt version you are using, delete the corresponding folder:
      Kontakt 5: "Kontakt 5"
      Kontakt 6: "Kontakt Application"
      Kontakt 7: "Kontakt 7"
      Kontakt 8: "Kontakt 8"
    4. Close the Registry Editor.
    5. Start Kontakt in standalone mode (not in your DAW) and select your audio interface's ASIO driver in the Audio and MIDI Settings dialog.
