Interface help needed!

Dear Traktor Community

Hope you can help, I've been struggling to get clear answers from various retailers on how to solve this problem:

I want to connect 2x Technics 1210s to the Traktor Z1 (Mk2), buy the timecode vinyl (DVS), and use this DVS alongside my analogue vinyl. (I'd also like to use non-DVS controlled music within Traktor via Z1, which I know is of course possible.)

I understand I'll need an audio/digital interface to connect the turntables, as the Z1 has no phono inputs, but cannot get a definitive answer on which interface will suffice.

Can anyone advise, please? It doesn't have to be NI-branded, any will do as long as it's compatible.

Also: as the Z1 has '4 channel' capability, I'm assuming my analogue vinyl/DVS/non-DVS controlled music within Traktor combination won't be a problem? Please advise if otherwise.

Many thanks!

Keep in mind that Traktor on its own can't use multiple audio interfaces at the same time. So you can't connect your headphones to the z1 and the turntables to something like a Traktor A6. (Some external tools exists for this, with mixed results)

You want something with 4 phono channels in (2 stereo), and at least 2 line out for master, and headphone out. 4 in, 4 out.

You can get a used Traktor A6 for around 60 - 80 EUR sometimes. There is also the Reloop flux, but I don't think it has headphone out.

Instead of a Z1, you could also get a Traktor S4 mk3, that has phono in and lets you control 4 decks at the same time. On the z1 you would need to switch back and fourth between AB and CD.

Do you already have something to control play / pause / cue / hotcues with?

There are videos on Youtube of people using this sort of setup with a Traktor Audio A4 or A6 as the interface. As they are no longer made a Reloop Flux would probably work.

The other option would be to get a Traktor compatible mixer instead of the Z1. You'd probably be better off getting an X1 as well.

Thanks both for your replies, they’re much appreciated.

Seems like the Z1 won’t work in the situation I’d like it to. Shame as it really appeals.

Would a 2nd hand Z2 be a good purchase? I may have opportunity to buy one and it seems to do what I’d like it to (albeit without the stem controls of the Z1, which I love!).

    Cheers
