    To answer your question, no it is not possible to reset it to start the controller's original factory system. And as i wrote, there is no firmware update for this device.

    You pads are not responding, most probably because this device is very old and over-used. I had a similar problem with the same device, with some of its knobs. This is normal, sadly, for most modern electronic devices, they do have a small life-circle.

    The only possible solution (though there is no guarantee that it will work!) is to take the device to a good electronics engineer to open it and clean it.
