Traktor Pro 4 (now 4.10) continues to be unusable in my experience. Upgraded to 4.1, and at a gig last night it crashed at about an hour and a half into my set. Using M3 Mac and Kontrol S$ MK3. Apple Music was the only other software open. The "on air" deck cut out, then the next deck cut out. Every time I DJ with Traktor Pro 4 I presume it will crash. I thought the upgrade would fix the stability issues because of M3 Mac support. Not for me yesterday. Never using Traktor Pro 4 again (until the next upgrade).
Frustrating because (hardware complaint) the Kontrol S4 MK3 has no real standalone mixer mode, crashes are a real challenge. When a software crash occurs, if you unplug the usb from your computer, then hit the "ext" button on a channel on the Kontrol S4 MK3 then you can play from an external source, presuming you have an rca connected to that channel. But the gain is SO weak as to be virtually unusable, because even with gain set to max, and even all three e.q.'s turned up all the way, the signal is substantially quieter than the normal output from the S4. Each time this happened management is sure to come over and say "what is wrong…? Why is your music quiet?"
Maybe when the next generation of the Kontrol S4 comes out, it can have "real" standalone mixer inputs like the competition? All software crashes, but when there is actual standalone mixer functionality, which I define as an input that allows a song played from a phone/cd player/whatever, via RCA into the mixer output to be EQUALLY AS LOUD as what was playing from the software prior to the crash, which is currently not possible on the Kontrol S4 MK3.
Frustrating because (software complaint) in order to work at all, I have to use Traktor 3, which is the last stable release because Traktor 4.10 is guaranteed to crash.
