I put the crash report into Gemini and it says the following:
This crash report indicates that ScanApp3, a component of Native Instruments' Komplete Kontrol software, crashed because it tried to access your microphone without permission.
Here's a breakdown:
- ScanApp3 is a background process that scans your computer for compatible VST3 plugins (virtual instruments and effects) to use with Komplete Kontrol.
- TCC (Transparency, Consent, and Control) is a macOS security feature that protects your privacy by controlling app access to sensitive data like your microphone, camera, and files.
- The crash occurred because ScanApp3 attempted to use the microphone without having the necessary usage description in its
Info.plist
file. This file tells macOS what the app intends to do with the microphone and why it needs access.
In simpler terms: Imagine someone trying to enter a building without showing their ID or explaining their reason for being there. TCC acts as the security guard, preventing access because ScanApp3 didn't provide the necessary information (the usage description).
What to do:
- Update Komplete Kontrol: The best solution is to check for updates for Komplete Kontrol. Native Instruments likely fixed this issue in a newer version.
- Contact Native Instruments Support: If updating doesn't help, contact Native Instruments support for further assistance. They might have specific instructions or a workaround for this problem.
I guess I should open a support case. Anyone else seeing this kind of issue? Also my KK is not seeing all my native instruments libraries (like Alicias Keys, etc) but Kontakt 8 sees everything. I was able to rectify this by re-installing each library, but i have the whole suite, i do not want to redownload and reinstall all those libraries. Two separate issues i suspect.
