S49 mk3 in Maschine

Hello, I amused to using my mk1 s49 in maschine, and decided to upgrade to mk3 today.

I can't get it working in maschine software, and when I look online it says it can be used as a midi keyboard only. Please tell me this isn't true??

I can't open browser using keyboard etc.

If so I will be returning it now gobsmacked.

I know many of you have been waiting for news about Maschine. We’ll be releasing an upgrade to the software in November that brings several features including stem separation, MIDI editing workflow improvements, per-scene tempo, a basic Kontrol S-Series MK3 integration, a modern interface, and many other small but valuable improvements.

Be aware of the words they use: BASIC integration.

If you are not sure if that will satisfy you, you can return the keyboard (otherwise you’ll lose the return period) and only later rebuy it if you get what you want.

Maybe this time doing some good researches BEFORE the purchase ☺️

Again…you are underestimating (or overestimating) the wording “BASIC integration”.
I’m afraid that this won’t satisfy you, since you say “it’s stated will be integrated” and “3.0 should be the solution” and that your expectations could be too high.

I just wanted you to be aware and refrain the usual “buy something for what it does NOW and not for what is promised” (specially when the promise contains the word “basic” 😂)

If you do and you already have registered it to your account, PLEASE do the License transfer, so that next buyer won’t have issues in registering it, like it happens to many because the previous owner has not been very honest ☺️

Where are you returning it? To NI directly or to a reseller where you bought it?

In any case, they should send you an email with the new serial that you can put in the box for next buyer.

But in the case you bought it directly from NI, maybe that’s not necessary.

You could ask tomorrow in NI support chat during office time, so you will speak with an actual human being

It might be a bit more helpful if NI would be open about what "basic integration" with Maschine actually means in terms of exactly how that integration will benefit owners of Kontrol S series MK3 keyboards. With Maschine 3 due soon surely a more definitive explanation would be welcome?

I was also left dumbfounded by the decision to drop support for Maschine in the new MK3 keyboards but saw this before purchasing one so wasn't left disappointed like yourself. NI have given their explanation of why they made this decision stating that according to their data analytics not enough customers used the earlier versions of the S series keyboards with Maschine. Personally, I'd like to see this data because I believe it was done for other reasons. If you're primarily a Maschine user I see no reason to invest in a MK3 keyboard, you'll get just the same user experience with any midi controller keyboard costing far less money.

Basic integration may well have been added as an afterthought once it became clear it upset the few as you describe us but why on earth it was decided in the first place was a mistake. There has been enough users here in this forum left both perplexed and disappointed to suggest that it was not well received.

If hardly anyone misses the deep integration offered in your older keyboards then why go to the trouble to add basic integration now? It doesn't make any sense.

Yes your spot on, didn't think assuming the latest hardware made by NI would work on NI software was bad thinking, but clearly it was. Been informed new maschine is coming out, and it's stated will be integrated with mk3 models etc. That's all I really care for, I have cubase and started my music life on it mamy years ago, but maschine is the environment that works for me best, so glad 3.0 should be the solution.

It's appreciated, I am actually going to take it back tommorow. I'm hoping no issues and feel a little ripped off. If mk3 is not fully integrated into maschine 3, then I really do not see the point in why they released it, that's really poor.
