UI/UX Feedback. Your thoughts?
The more I use Kontakt 8, the more I find I dislike it because of the UI/UX.
Okay, seems that the new Default View was created with the ability to toggle the Instrument Header on/off. Fine. Unnecessary, but okay, maybe some like this idea. But, now you ONLY get the gear icon, even on your own instrument you are creating! And you can't minimize the PV, so I'm guessing this is basically the old single view. These changes caused me HOURS of time thinking there were bugs, when I suddenly couldn't get the gear icon! Not a fan.
Now at least I know I have to be in Classic View to edit an instrument. Hate this change.
And with the Classic View, you are forced to be in Multi mode, with the Multi Header at the top regardless, and confusingly saying "New(default)". I'm not creating a Multi, and don't want to see it. Waste of screen real estate, which is a cardinal sin to developers. Not a fan.
Even for a user, the UI/UX is awful. For example, to save a snapshot, you click on the floppy disk icon (which most of your younger users probably have never seen), and it opens a dialog box. BUT, to type the desired snapshot name, you MUST find the dialog with mouse and click in the field!!! You can't even tab to it!!! And on a large screen, if you have Kontakt on one end, and do this, that dialog pops up no where near it, because it goes to the center of your screen. Guess what happens? A user, doesn't see it, and thinks Kontakt has locked up and is unresponsive! They need to hire an Apple developer.
It's like I'm forced to use a Windows product on my Mac. I dumped Windows eons ago to avoid this kind of stuff.
I really like the Library Browser, except for what one has to go through to add artwork. LOL
I'm glad I like the instruments and sounds, but I haven't even played with Conflux or anything fun, having lost so much time on this UI/UX change.

Yeah I think the problem is at version 6 the interface was clearly outdated with no HDPI and complete reliance on bitmapped graphics. However rather than a complete GUI refresh Kontakt 7 just bolted a scalable new browser on top of the old interface. And now Kontakt 8 has bolted another new interface on top of that so you have a real “dogs dinner” of an interface with none of it meshing particularly well and the older bits like the instrument editor, rack and navigator sticking out like a sore thumb. We also have 2 “views” adding to the confusion and at the last count at least 7 kinds of browser, none of which show everything in one place.
