saving times taking 3 mins since loading Kontakt 8 (KT-10248)

Does standalone count as VST? I've experienced it in standalone too (saving a multi)

I am experiencing this with VST3 in Reaper as well. Save times are long and it takes just as long to close each windowed instance of Kontakt 8.

Has the newest update fixed the issue? I couldn't find anything in the patch notes and am not home this weekend so can't test this out. Hopeful though!

I am experiencing this too and it's good to know that I'm not the only one. Kontakt 8 is utterly useless to me due to this issue and I'm very close to asking for a refund on my upgrade.

No, it hasn't, the issue is still under investigation.

same here.
win10, 12700f, neundo 13.0.41,
I test it, Saving 5 tracks in Kontakt 7 takes about 1 second, but with 5 tracks in Kontakt 8, using the same instruments and settings, saving takes over ten seconds.
I also noticed that when a save operation is triggered (either actively with Ctrl+S, through automatic backup, or in-place rendering), Nuendo continuously reads from the disk where Kontakt’s loaded samples (in this case, CSS) are stored, while the project itself is on a different disk (both are high-speed SSDs).

Before upgrading to Kontakt 8 VST3, I had no issues opening and saving Studio One v7 projects. However, now, my 19-track project with Kontakt instruments take almost a minute to load and/or save.

has there been any fix or workaround established? It’s been weeks and it’s make Kontakt 8 unusable. Thanks!

Not yet but we were able to reproduce the issue. It seems related to the size of the libraries. Issue still under investigation.

Thank you for the response! Relieved to know you are on it. Kontakt 8 is the only full version of Kontakt I own so I have been relying on it a lot.

Good to hear that it's under investigation. One additional note from my side:
I installed NI Komplete on a new MacBook Pro this week (after upgrading from Ultimate to Collector's Edition), so I decided to install only Kontakt 8 as a sampler. Behavior as described above - long save times etc.
After reading about the issue, I also installed Kontakt 6 (the Kontakt version I was using previously), but there is (at least partially) a similar behavior. If I add an instrument track with Kontakt in Cubase, open the Kontakt UI and select a library/instrument, everything is fast. But when I close the Kontakt UI, it takes more than a minute with the Mac OS "spinning beach ball" before the window is closed and Cubase can be used again. Seems to be independent of the library instrument size. Saving the project seems to work fine with Kontakt 6.This is on macOS Sequoia 15.1 with Cubase Pro 14.0.5 on a M4 MacBook Pro, no problems with any other plugins from any manufacturer …

Interesting - so you see this issue with both K6 and K8? The reports have thus far been K8 centric

Yes, tested yesterday with both. But with K8 people seemed to complain more about save times while with K6 it was more the close time of the plugin UI.

Just chiming in, tried to convert my large template from K7 to K8 in Nuendo by completely removing K7 from the system. The project opens just fine and notifies me that all tracks have been changed to K8, and when I try to save the project as a new version, Nuendo freezes and just stays frozen indefinitely. Definitely no way to work in any practical way, hope this gets resolved and glad the team is on it.

Hi nbcomposer
Would you be open to sharing your template with us via DM? It would be very helpful as we narrow this down and test any fixes.
Best,
Tim
