Session Percussionist: 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures

Aloha all,

Session Percussionist seems best fit for 4/4 time signatures.

Is there an intelligent way to get SP to grok the time signature of what's in my DAW and provide patterns, etc. that work with 3/4, 6/9 and 9/8 patterns?

Googling about has been frustrating and I can't believe SP isn't designed to work with "everything that's out there"!

Mahalo!

With Session Percussionist you can edit the time divisions per measure and can therefore have any kind of time signature you would like:

No worries, you should be able to edit the pattern length, instrument/sound by instrument/sound. Like this, you need to select the key first:

I hope this makes things clearer. If you're still not able to move that grid, we should investigate it, what's your operating system, what DAW are you using?

    Aloha e Jeremy,

    Thank you.

Sorry for tardy response, was away.

I've gotten that far, but how do I get the divisions to not be 4/4?

Your screenshot is where I always get to, but even your screenshot has 4/4.

    How do I "edit" it?

I've Googled like crazy, but there's no demo of how to accomplish this.

The best I've done is, in my mind, to superimpose 3/4 or 6/8 on top of the unchangeable 4/4 grid.

    Is that the answer?

    Mahalo again!

You can move these little arrows to fit any time division you want:

    Aloha!

I must be doing something wrong.

I've tried that, but they don't move. They stay locked in 4/4.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks again!

There's no "global setting" to establish a new time signature?

Yes you're right, there's no global setting, you have to do that per instrument.

    And per SP grid bar?

Like I said, I've tried moving those arrows, but they seem to be locked.

Thanks, sorry to bug you, but I LOVE the sounds in SP, but can't use them at present.

If you knew of a video demo that'd be helpful.

I'll try uninstalling SP and reinstalling. Perhaps there's a SP glitch my end.

Signing off, the sun's gone down in Hawai'i.

    Thanks again.
