Kontrol S88 MK3 owners - What type of cable are you connection to an AUDIO Interface input?
I see my Kontrol Keyboard S Series MK3 S88 has MIDI IN and OUT 5 Din access ports on the back side of the MKB. Is anyone using them for the primary purpose of MIDI data to an audio interface with a USB-C output to their desktop 3.0 USB Type C input?
My audio interface is a PreSonus Quantum ES2.
I need a stable ASIO USB-C Windows 11 driver, not one that crashes my Kontakt, Komplete Kontrol, and Third-Party plugin instruments and effects in my DAW whenever I open a web browser. It's easier to learn how to use stuff with a YouTube tutorial video playing in a web browser to the side of the apps in real time.
I have MIDI Type B 5-pin DIN cabler adaptors that connect to my PreSonus Quantum Series ES2 MIDI In/Out 3.5 mm ports.
I'm not trying to send any instruments to be converted to MIDI in a DAW (like a synth keyboard with MIDI); I'm just sending the data. I will add vocals after I can record tracks using the virtual instruments.
I need help finding online videos or articles with a MIDI (only) keyboard that offers an example connection schematic illustration or image connecting MIDI in and out, only connection examples to an audio interface.
I have an issue with my two MIDI cable adaptors' IN and OUT connections. The S88 MK3 no longer displays libraries in Kontakt or Third-Party instruments in Komplete Kontrol on the onboard display.
I can play and hear the notes without latency in the audio interface connection I described, so long as I use the stand-alone versions of Kontakt or Komplete Kontrol (KK).
But the DAW I use is PreSonus Studio One 6 Pro. It has the audio and MIDI (external devices) configured for Kontakt and KK, allowing me to browse as if the stand-alone version is browsing on my desktop's monitor but not the MK3's onboard display.
After auditioning them in the browser, I can drag and drop the chosen library or instrument as a plugin for a track, but I can no longer hear what I'm playing.
The only way to see the libraries/instruments on the MK3's onboard display is to remove the MIDI cable adaptors and revert to using the USB-C cable from the MK3's Data port, directly connecting the other end to my Windows 11 Desktop's USB-C 3.0 port.
It's been five months since I struggled with the learning curve regarding the requirements for setup configurations and nine months since I custom-built this desktop to be the beast it needs for content creation for audio and video production.
I used to run MIDI when it first came out. I had multiple synths, samplers in a keyboard, or rackmount modules, all running on a Roland sequencer and then controlled by my desktop PC. But something has changed since then.
Please help.
At 62, I have an 'ugly cry' for an old man.
I haven't cried yet because I'm tenacious. I have old recordings siloed on SoundCloud to update and a documentary to produce, so I'm driven. But I feel stranded on an island. I can't and refuse to believe I'm the only music composer with the issue of setting up connections to MIDI-only keyboard hardware and configuring the software.
If you made it here, you have my gratitude.

Hello,
i connected my kk 49mk3 via usb-c to usb-c cable and my interface, focusrite 8i6, via an usb c to usb a cable, like most cables cellphones use to load power. But if you want to have your audio interface over usb c it´s no problem. You can use an adapter for the keyboard too. like described here under "Connecting the Keyboard to a Computer Without USB-C"
