Can I import Kontakt 7 patches into Kontakt 8?

Hi!
I’m currently working on an album, each song with a few instances of K7, so I was wondering if I could export a preset from K7 into K8 without issues. That way I can upgrade my projects to the latest version of Kontakt. Is this possible?
Also, are there K7 libraries that are not currently compatible with K8?
Thanks!

I think things are pretty much backwards compatible, at least as far as NI instruments are concerned.
Having said that, if I had work in progress I'd stick with a known working version of K7 for those projects until they're complete and use K8 for new stuff. If you do move to K8 on existing stuff make lots of backups first :)

I think I will follow your sage advice and stick with K7.
Honestly the only reasons I wanted to upgrade to K8 was because of the new browser, which looks like it makes searching much easier (especially when you own several libraries), and to keep up to date. The rest of the features are a big meh, for me at least. Also, given how quickly this new version came out, if this is the new path forward in terms of release schedule for Kontakt, then I might as well wait until K9 and see what it brings to the table.
I really wished plug-ins where backward compatible in the sense that upgrading to the new version would work just like when you upgrade within the same point version (i.e. from Kontakt 7.0 to Kontakt 7.05) and be immediately recognized. The drawback is that sometimes you do want that separation between the old and the new versions, but a solution would be to have a prompt asking the user “Are you sure you want to convert all the instances of K7 found in this project to the new version?”, or something along those lines. That would save so much time if you wanted to keep old projects up to date, so you don’t have to install an old version of a plug-in just to be able to open a project. I know you can simply bounce everything, but one can dream lol.
Anyway, thanks for the advice!!0
