Yeah, I know this, but I've payed a lot for some software wich won't work with an system update. Finally worked with step 2:

Should really be using v2.9.6. Which is the last current (and very solid) update.

The “freeze” could be several things but if it was working last week and is not now - something has changed.

    Can't install on a OSX 10.13 system.

OK - fair enough. That OS is not longer supported. Nor is that old version of KK.

Might want to consider a move to OS 11 (or higher)

Joys of being a mac user, at some stage you will be forced into updating, whether you like it or not, you have little choice.

    True dat.

It still kinda blows my mind that a lot of Mac users seem to be shocked by this fact when it comes crashing down.

Apple has practically promoted forced obsolescence on all their products since day 1.

Yeah, TBF it is a solid platform and it's obvious why people choose macOS as a workstation, I use both Windows and Mac personally for different reasons where one is always better in a certain area than the other but I have realistic expectations around my 2019 macbook that it has a Max of 8-10 years of life. By contrast, the computer each of my kids has are old PCs of mine after I updated and they are now pushing easily 15 years old and can still play all the games my kids want to play, granted not at the top quality but the fact they can be upgraded with new GPU, Ram and even the CPU in one of them has kept them out of landfill for close to 2 decades.
