KONTROL S4 MK3 - Tempo slider right deck

Is this a known problem the NI team are aware of?

Let me explain. And incidentally this is my second S4 MK3 controller and it's done it on both. I had posted this on a Facebook group and had differing responses. Interested to hear NIs take.

So right deck temp slider - start it dead centre. Same on software (latest version of TP4), slider is dead centre. Load track, and the sliders are still dead centre, with the +- at 0.0.

On S4 I move slider on to full top or bottom from centre position, and I move slider back to centre position, but now the +-0.0 doesn't match the software position of slider; on controller the centre position is now not centre; its become offset.

NB: Softwares and firmwares are up to date.

I'm am also aware of the absolute and relative options in settings, and their meaning. I am also aware of how to reset the tempo slider.

This same problem doesn't exist on Kontrol S3, so why does problem occur on S4?

I've been NI's customer for more than a decade. I am simply expressing my expectations based on my experience and knowledge, trying to be helpful.

I've paid good money for a controller; I even hounded the supplier for a replacement assuming I had a faulty controller. For the sack of customers and suppliers; this issue needs to be resolved.

It's not to much to ask.

    Yes. Good luck.

Answer: No clue. Or rather, it's a coding mistake that should be solvable. You can try overmapping the faders to the same function in controller manager. But don't use TT mode if you do, because TT mode will not work properly in that situation.

Observations: Either set the tempo faders to absolute or set them to relative and also set the range to +/-2%. These are the only ways to get the tempo to 0% using the faders. This behaviour has been present since day one. It has been brought up by users lots and lots in the months after release of the S4MK3 and it has never been addressed. So, it's on NI's very long laundry list, somewhere around the bottom section. And they are working their way down from the top, slowly. I don't expect this to be solved. Ever.

Thank you for taking time to reply. I'm not sure if you work for NI or not. But I don't believe my question should be marked 'answered' on assumption if you don't work for NI. I'd rather a qualified response from NI themselves. I know their customer staff are using these forums.

I take your point on mapping, but I'm not confident on mapping.

I've paid good money for a controller; I even hounded the supplier for a replacement assuming I had a faulty controller. For the sack of customers and suppliers; this issue needs to be resolved.

It's not to much to ask.

Its a basic ask from a DJ controller that the tempo slider correctly replicates the correct central positioning when set at the original BPM of the track.

I hope a firmware update can be procured in due course.
