Is there anything I can do to turn these instrument previews down when they are user instruments?
Yes the volume control on the factory side works for all previews

Thank you, I didn't know that. But im having an issue with one bank in particular. Would those previews use normal audio files? Is there a way I can access them on my computer?
Yes they are ogg files - usually they will be in the same folder as the .nksf presets but in a hidden subfolder called '.previews' - which you can temporarily unhide to edit them
