It's a brilliant update, and all there for new users though.
I will just say that I got my Mk3 late last year so I don't know what it was like as a day one buyer, but when I got mine I felt that NI were pretty transparent in the features that it lacked and what the the expected timeline would be. Albeit a little over-optimistic.
As great as the staff at NI are, they're ultimately working within the 'more revenue with less people' demands from owners/shareholders. It's almost pointless having a moan at them as the only language those at the top understand is money.
This is why if you're opening your wallet for a product that's not finished, you're a bigger part of the problem than those employed by NI, as it's validating the decisions made at the top. I doubt staff enjoy being pulled off projects knowing that there's issues they could fix.

Agree you should not buy products with the promise on future improvements.
For me it did not feels as clear with the MK3 when it was released - the issues with the lack of internal software features became more apparent after the purchase for me. I probably could not have waited for almost 2 years either due to the new (needed) Kontakt 8 control integration, but yes, they did not deserve my money on release date.
The community could also warn quicker and ask people to wait with the purchase (and push back from the eventual fanboys going into a frenzy). Great example is the new Maschine 3 software where we have seen pushback - preferably don't buy that software until it improves.

Get use to that…

Yes, it will likely not get better.
I am starting to look elsewhere for future software purchases too.

I really love Kontrol Mk3, and for me personally this latest update has put it head and shoulders above many other controllers.
Not such a fan of the update costs of Komplete Ultimate and upwards though, but then I was thinking the other day that I can give it a few years and buy on a discount as at least NI are not constantly forcing us to update.
By that I mean that we're not locked out of activations or updates, or have to go through iLok. KK and Kontakt Player are both free downloads. So the libraries invested in have always maintained a stable free platform to utilise them in. So while it's easy to be negative, there's a lot that NI get right.

MK3 was a mess IMO. Nice piece of hardware but now very expensive (NI needs to make money somewhere) Komplete bundle has a gigantic tech debt, Kontakt and Reaktor platforms are a mess. In some areas over a decade or more old. It may take over a decade before instrument GUIs has been modernized properly if ever.
I am stuck into the NI eco system for different reason but that doesn't mean I may pivot and stop updating my Komplete bundle, stop buying new hardware and spend my money elsewhere and slowly switching to using other products.
NI can win me back, but it will require way faster release frequencies and improvements, but I am not as optimistic as some others.

When you say a mess, what is it preventing you from doing? I'm not sure i've ever had such a good setup, Kontrol Mk3 and Komplete are killer if you're wanting to create music.

I have had that kind of setup (MK1, MK2 and MK3) for over decade so you see where the platform hardware & software develops and where it severely lacking. It is called perspective.

Perhaps my perspective is more focused on the end result of making music, whereas you've become too focused on the software, then?
Because I can't see how anyone could have this on their desks and claim it's a mess or prevents them from being able to produce good music with these tools.
I've owned Mk2 through to Mk3, and this is by far the best it's been for me personally. The external templates, play assist modes and other additions recently has been brilliant for my other external gear too.
The installation, updates and Native Access overall is so much better too, early days of my Mk2 I was having to go through registry entries to fix NKS problems.
It seems such a strange point for someone to jump to me, but maybe i'm missing some major issue that is affecting others?!

This is a forum to provide feedback and ask questions if you have any problem with the products. It is completely normal to comment on issues with products and provide negative feedback.
It is however not normal going after someone commenting negatively and trying to question their validity. I provided my feedback on the matter. Move on.
