Hello everyone,

I just bought my kontrol S88 about 3 months ago, It was working fine until the recent update which is the 3.3.1 version. Since the update, I'm unable to use the sustain pedal.

I tried to find online sources but those are meant for the older version, tried tinker around with the controls and everything but to no avail.

I tried to reach out to Native Instruments many many many times but my messages were ignored.

I work as a piano teacher and I teach online using my Kontrol hence the sustain pedal is extremely important to me as it concerns my livelihood.

If anyone has any suggestions/solution, please do share here. It'll really really help me alot. My next option would be to get another keyboard but as i had just bought this keyboard for only 3 months, i am really reluctant to.

Thank you in advance

Oh, I think I know what's up here. Are you using Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt? I would go for Komplete Kontrol. Please disconnect the keyboard, open the standalone Komplete Kontrol application. Click on MIDI and remove any unwanted MIDI assignment there.

Once this is done connect the keyboard, is everything back working?

@Reeveswongpiano The setup is slightly different since the last firmware update and our articles are not yet up to date. Sorry about that. What model of sustain pedal are you using?

Pedal settings are now part of the MIDI templates. So you need to go to the Settings on the keyboard itself by pressing SETTINGS MIDI then navigate to Access MIDI Template and press SHIFT + BROWSER, choose Edit and then navigate to the pedal you want to set up, there are 3 pages. Settings should be the same as in this article: How to Configure Sustain / Expression Pedals on Kontrol Keyboards

    Hello Jeremy,

    Thank you for your reply.

I'm using a Korg DS-1H sustain pedal. It was working well until the update.

I tried to tinker through different settings in the midi templates but none of them worked.

    Currently, these are my settings.

Thank you for your reply, and i really do appreciate it. Please let me know what else i could do to get the sustain function up again

    Regards,

    Reeves

    Hey Reeves, when you're here,

To edit settings of the pedal you have to stay on the Sustain pedal (or use the 4d encoder to select another pedal). Then you navigate through the 3 pages of settings for the pedal with the little arrow buttons on the left of the screen.

the settings you show here are for the knobs:

Make sure not to assign MIDI CC 64 or 65 to another knob, button, only to the sustain pedal.

    Hello Jeremy,

here are my settings, is there anything that i should change?

Also can i ask where's the 4d encoder?

Once again, thank you so much

hello Jeremy, I tried to follow the guide to make the sustain pedal work as closely as possible but it is still not working

is it possible to re-download the previous version of the kontrol?

I really need this to be sorted out asap, I need my keyboard to teach.

Really regret downloading this new update

@Reeveswongpiano This is because you assigned MIDI CC64 to another knob or button, as mentioned before:

CC64 (and 65) are responsible for sustain pedals. If you assign another control it will steal the assignment. Simply assign another MIDI CC to that other control up here in this picture, or simply create a new template, it will load the default setting.

Ah and yes, the 4d encoder is the big knob with a blue light circle on the right of the screen.

Hello Jeremy, once again, thank you for your replies.

I followed the instructions and here are my settings. Still no sustain pedal

I've also done a reset for my keyboard. Also,

When i step on the pedal, the Tone option is toggled. I guess instead of activating the sustain pedal, this got triggered instead.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for your help. I do apologise for my questions and i really do appreciate your help

Can you check with other libraries? Please also check with MIDI monitor, what CC number plays when you press the pedal? How to Monitor the Output of a MIDI Controller

Hello Jeremy, i tried 3 other libraries, the gentleman, session strings and something thats not from NI which is emotional piano. All the same results. the "tone" was triggered.

I also tried the midi output test here are the results

it says sustain but it's not sustaining
