Kontrol S MK3 Updater issue
I'm having issue with the new firmware. Im on the newest OSX Sonoma with a Mac Studio M1 everything updated to newest. I updated all available software in Native Access; Kontakt/Komplete Kontrol/Hardware Connection Service etc. I downloaded the firmware software that appeared on the keyboard and ran it. I get a message after a couple of minutes. ' An error has occured updateing your Kontrol S MK3 (error -2) etc and then instructs me to unplug, turn off, try again etc. I try again, unplugging everything from the mac studio except the keyboard which I've had no issues with in the past with firmware upgrades. It errors again, then try again again, same thing. I read all pertinent message board posts cant seem to find anything of a similar nature. Anyways keyboard is not functioning, what do I do ?

After rebboting again, it failed. I reinstalled Hardware connection service again and it failed again. I added a powered usb from my smartphone to the back off keyboard. It failed again. I rebooted again and tried again. It went through the update and worked. Have no idea why it suddenly decided to work lol on the eighth attempt. Anyway you can close thread, it works now :)

As a first troubleshooting step - I would try again, but using a USB-C hub instead of plugging directly into your computer. It sounds like there's an issue with your USB-C connection causing dropouts.

I am also having this issue , does the Hardware Connection Service application have anything to do with the update ? because I am having trouble finding it my application menu. I logged in and out several times and it doesn't pop up still.

Hardware Connection Services would be listed as one of your libraries in Native Access. The firmware update happens separately, but you need the right firmware version to match up with the Hardware Connection Services. The firmware update is downloaded separately from NI as a .ZIP file. You unzip it and run it with your keyboard powered up and it installs the correct firmware.

hi everyone
i had the same issue with my brand new s49 mk 3! I finally connected the keyboard with the enclosed usb c cable to my m1 macbook air ( not my main music computer), downloaded the second latest fw updater and started the fw update process - this finally worked). after the successful update i downloaded the latest fw updater again and started the update process. mysteriously this time everything went as panned.
hope this helps…
