Scratching with Key Lock on - High Load

I am running a 2021 M1 Pro - 16GB RAM.

When I scratch on Traktor with the lowest latency while having the key lock on, my load meter continuously peaks.

Is Traktor generally a CPU heavy software? Or could there be something I'm doing wrong?

Lowest latency will increase the load significantly. For any audio software.

What did you set it to?

I have it as far to the left as possible (64).

My concern is that I've seen Serato users with weaker laptops than mine scratch with the key lock on while having their latency at the lowest, and they have no load spikes whatsoever.

Reason why I ask if Traktor is generally more CPU heavy compared to other DVS.

are you on turntables? Why scratch with keylock? It sounds bad and digital(distorted)

I use timecode with CDJS… I keep it on because I generally mix using key lock, and only scratch when necessary. My question is why does that generally trigger the load meter to spike in Traktor? But other DVS are able to handle it without this issue.

When cpu spiking happen, does it affect the sound? If it doesn’t don’t worry, my MBP 2012 has latency at 64 spiking, no sound issues

It does for me. Every time the load bar spikes in to red, I hear popping sounds.

So, another thing I've noticed is that the load spike doesn't happen with native controllers or mixers.

I use a Pioneer DJM-850 as the primary sound card so I'm uncertain if that may be a factor towards the problem as well.

Did you enable the Multi-Core Prozessor Support in the preferences? That helped me to decrease CPU spikes.

I haven't tried that with Traktor 4 as yet.

But with Traktor 3, enabling multi core caused my load meter to increase.

It's all extremely confusing to me, but I will try with Traktor 4 and let you know.

I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but I've noticed that turning off wifi improves the sound quality and performance of Traktor (Pro 3) significantly. So you might check/try this.
