Library update not compatible - how to revert?

Hi

So I've just opened a project to continue work and find that Action Strings has been updated to a version which is only compatible with 7.10.x while I am stuck on 7.8.3 until I buy a new computer

How does one revert to the older version of the libraries?

and more importantly, how does one prevent NA from installing library updates which are incompatible with the user system?? This could be something handled on NI side! They're the ones who know the compatibilities but are pushing updates on users which are not backwards compatible - this is a serious disruption to my work!

I have no idea which other libraries are affected at this time…

We're working on improving how we communicate compatibility information through Native Access. Thanks for sharing your feedback @Anthony H 🙏

Update: The OP has received an installer for the compatible version via our support team.

Just to add to this. Firstly, it's Actions Strings *2 I'm talking about - I should have specified. This also has nothing to do with the recent port of some libraries for keyboard controller compatibility as described in this topic .

Secondly, I've checked the release notes (see below) for the AS2 update and nowhere does it mention anything about compatibility. It is outrageous that NI ships a product with certain compatibility specs, then overrides those specs and drops support for those systems midway through a product's life span. Kontakt 7 and the adjacent libraries should remain compatible as advertised with the systems they were sold for - period.

Thirdly, I thought that using Kontakt 7 Player might be an option, but it is not available for installation in NA. Presumably this is because I'm an owner of a full Kontakt 7 license.

You can check the compatibility on the SonuScore web site (the actual vendor of the library) where they list Kontakt 7.10.4 as the minimum version requirement.

Native Instruments is the vendor - they sold the library. SonuScore is the developer.

Is this the point we've arrived at? NI customers are advised that they should ignore the release notes and verify and double check with third party developers to see if products which NI sells, distributes and manages are in fact compatible with the products NI develops, sells and manages? No. I'm drawing the line here.

The problem here is that NI has quietly dropped support for owners of Kontakt 7 running macOS 11, simultaneously severing compatibility with purchased libraries. Despite still advertising it as supported (see below). Major compatibility updates happen between versions, not midway during a products lifespan.
