I knew exactly what you meant, and I agree with you re the privacy aspect and nor do I think its anything other than self explanatory in realizing these platforms are getting more ad driven and privacy invasive as time goes by. It doesn't take any honest researcher much to see the breaches thereof.

I run all 3 platforms and I dislike the general race to the bottom between MacOS and M$, hence both of those are as air gapped as possible. The thing is though, I just dont have the time to wrestle with Linux for DAW use. The best way I get around the overreach of MacOS which I use for my DAW is simply dont use it for anything else. I would love to go Linux for DAW if it was all set to go, but I have to agree with the others that this is not the case for probably most of us. Linux does me great for internet stuff and Im OK with that but stability is hugely important for DAW work.

The ONLY reason I use MacOS is it was the best progression from where I came from. It meant that it was going to be much less of a learning curve, which was important to me.

Im very, very frustrated with all of this, and I have strong plans to move my entire DAW and studio into Ubuntu as I am able. I have one main win10 machine, I've abandoned the smartphone ecosystem (I use a Light Phone), and I hope to air gap the win10 machine soonish. I hate having win10/11 machines on my network!

I am very excited about the direction numerous vendors are going in (supporting more linux), and I look forward to a no windows, no apple future.

Ive ignored almost everything you've said because it's overlong and nonsensical, and there is a whole world of living examples of what Im talking about if you look for it. Are you pretending to live under a rock for the sake of discrediting me?? You dont get to say "citation please" lmaaaao like this is a formal debate, when I was talking about the cellphoneification of the personal computer. Just dont bother wasting our time here. Just dont.

"Not exactly sure what you are getting at to be honest."

I see. I wont bother trying again, as I am a long-form writer and most people who read me understand me fine. Not you, though?

You don't get to make claims without evidence and have them taken seriously.

As long as Linux and its advocates refuse to address the reasons why it isn't widely used as an audio platform, the situation will remain as it is.

You're obviously not interested in discussion, so please don't tag or quote me again.

You've likewise made claims without evidence, and without respect to the actual Linux community.

As long as closed source advocates and developers continue to INTENTIONALLY create barriers for linux devs, as they have been for decades, this argument will continue.

Ignored. I dont waste my time with burdensome people like yourself. Take care.

Yep, I get your frustration. I only use my windows XP for things I need to do offline now (the last OS you could have a reasonable semblance of locking down) . I would shudder to think what billyware (or latest replika) is piping off to redmond now. NO.THANKS. As for trapple, not much better. All their jibe about privacy is just a sales pitch to the privacy advocate. Dont get me started on stoopid siri. It doesn't take much to see how privacy is NOT privacy rreading their TOS's etc.The ONLY thing I will give to Apple is that For Logic, nobody has had to pay for ANY upgrades/updates ever since L10 came out years ago, and that Logic has an amazing lot of added Synths, Loops, Drums, FX etc. Logic is also very cheap compared to other Pro DAWS. Even L11 was not paid (for L10 owners) I cut my teeth on Logics predecessor and all Ive ever known is Logic. Its probably going to be a much too big of a jump unfortuately to move DAWs. As things stand, if Apple doesn't pull some stunt like forcing me to be online or my computer wont work, I'll keep airgapping my Mac.

Would be interested to see how things go when you get to cross over to linux and I wish you all the best. I'm with you 100% on the not- so- smart -phone as well as your phoneification. (well said). Like wise I wont touch one with a barge pole. Likewise anything with 'smart' in front of it is treated with the same.

@Paul B what gives you the right to demand people not tag or quote you. Im only mentioning this because you tried that on me as well. I've never heard of anyone doing that. As far as I can see this is a public forum and everyone, respectfully, has the right to discuss and even disagree. When you post you can not expect people to agree with you when they dont. Its actually on YOU to block someone if you dont want to see their content instead of the other way around.

I asked you nicely not to quote or tag me. I suppose it was too much to expect you might respect that.

@Jojo123 I demanded nothing. I asked politely. Like the other poster, you did not actually engage with anything I said. I will block you both now.
