Kontakt 7 Player will not start after changing Audio Device under Options
After changing the ASIO driver under File - Options - Audio - Device to 'Realtek ASIO', the Kontakt 7 Player crashed with an error message and would not start anymore. When clicking the KT icon, Windows 11 Pro would briefly show the hourglass twice however nothing further happened. Hence I could not change the Audio Device setting back to my soundcard or even to the generic ASIO driver. Restarting the PC or uninstalling and reinstalling the Player did not help.
I solved it using the Registry Editor. Go to the following hive key:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7
In the right pane, find the string 'AB2 AudioDevice', open it by double clicking on it, and delete the Value data (do not delete the entire string, only the Value data it contains, so make sure the field Value data is blank).
Close the Registry Editor and start Kontakt 7 Player. It will bring up the Options window first, where you can select the correct Audio Device. Then the Player itself will show up again.
