Traktor Pro 3 reading .wav files

Hi there,

I'm having issues having Traktor read new music. (disclaimer… I am relatively new to dj software and not a tech-y person so I may not know all the "lingo")

I have all my music on an external hard drive, and recently bought a couple new albums in .wav format. I have added the folder the music is in under File Management, and don't have any trouble loading the music in a different folder (which is from 10+ years ago and mostly mp3s).

I don't know if it matters, but the file types are compressed (zipped). They also load and play fine in Windows Media player. But I can't find the tracks in Traktor; I see the folder under Explorer but it shows as empty.

Any ideas? What am I missing?

If the files within this folder are zipped (file.zip) Traktor Pro cannot recognize them as audio files. You have to unzip the files first to get Wave Audio files (file.wav) these can be used in Traktor Pro.

Why have people forgotten that you have to unzip files?

@Heisenberg At least Windows treats Zip archives almost like folders these days.

I know, I just uninstalled WinRAR the other day because the onboard options are sufficient for unpacking.

But I still unpack my files immediately. To me, some packed files are just like an digital Amazon delivery box. I didn't know that people don't see it that way anymore.
