Traktor crash

edited October 2024 in Traktor Software & Hardware

I am using traktor pro 3 with a S2MK3 for a long time. Since a few weeks my music starts to 'glitch' when mixing. I can start mixing for a while but after a random period of time and at different songs the sound starts to change and slow down and the track starts to 'gurgle' (don't know the right translation). I went through the whole internet but could not find a solution. Does anyone knows how to fix this?

you are buffering , its either your sound card, processing chip getting hot , external drive or internal giving you sigs of going bad , and also your sound card could be going bad. been through all of these myself. if the wave file is starting to get distorted it could be sound card. most computers have a sound card/video together. last but not is malware in your computer. re enact the play list and see if it does it again and maybe it could be a corrupt file that triggers it

It would also be good if you mentioned the hardware and operating system on which you play the music.

I use a Windows laptop with the S2 MK3 controller. The program I am using is traktor pro 3. I'm not really an expert in all the details, so of you need specific information I need a bit more explanation :|

    Thanks for your answer @djvic91

If it is the sound card of my computer, is there any way to fix it?

And if it is a corrupted file, do I need to go file by file to see which one trigger it? It happend with more then one track so I have to check them all in that case.

reenact the songs from that playlist and see if it happens again that will tell you if its a corrupt file. the sound card can be replaced or checked out at a computer service center. when you restart your computer does it do it again right away or does it tame some time ? thats info you need to know

    Thanks @djvic91 for your answer.

I guess I have to go by every file then the rule out that possible cause.

It never crashes right away. I can start mixing and after I while the track suddenly starts to crash. This happends when the song is already playing and not at the beginning or when I load the track to the deck. Up untill now it happend with different songs.

ok it sounds like its not your songs. start playing music and see how long it takes to do it and then let it cool down and start again and see if its about the same time frame. if it is it could be getting hot if its not and its random times get it checked out by a tech to see if your sound card is going bad. also check your latency when it starts to do it, see if it starts to go up high. that's an indication its having trouble processing and could be the chip

@djvic91 Got the issue again. The time in which it happends differ and the latency did not seem to increase.

I did however solve the crash by upping the buffer size to 1024. Directly afterwards I switch it back without problems. I know this does not solve the cause but maybe it can give a clue where the root of the problem is?

These were my settings and the latency did not chance when the problem occured

I've ran at 1024 when i used the denon 1600 mixer as my sound card so running 1024 isn't a problem but by changing it and temporarily fixing it sounds like a processor or sound card. i would pay the 50 bucks to have your computer checked out. if i were you i would connect a phone or some gadget with a mix that will allow you to still have music through your mixer just in case. you should always have a back up plan while you are down.

one more thing when you are playing a song go ahead and move the latency up and down and you will hear your sound start to sound staticky and buffering. you will be duplicating what is happening so the tech understands what you are saying. when the load on your CPU goes up and you don't have the correct latency it will stutter. since you didn't see the load go up then it looks like your CPU could be getting hot or breaking down and cant process at the correct speeds

Thanks @djvic91 ! I think it is good to have back up. In the mean while I will try to get it checked out.
