Komplete Kontrol s61 mk3 doesn't connect using a TB hub?

Just got the Kontrol and was having trouble with setup, until I realized there was no data connection when plugged into my CalDigit TS3 Plus thunderbolt hub.

When I connected it directly to the MacBook, I was able to proceed through setup, and everything works as long as it's directly connected to a port on the computer and not in the hub.

Is this a known issue?

I think nearly all of us connect our S-series MK3 keyboards to the computer through a powered hub. At least for Mac computers, you basically cannot hook your keyboard directly to the computer, unless you connect the separate power port on the back of the keyboard yo a separate power source.

Very peculiar, as my experience is the exact opposite. Works when directly plugged into the computer, does not work when connected to the powered hub.

Perhaps the USB-C ports on the CalDigit TS3+ TB Dock do not provide enough power for your S61 Mk3 to work properly. To test, plug in a separate USB-C power device to your keyboard.

That was a decent theory… it didn't occur to me that it wouldnt have enough power, because the hub can provide 87 watts, and because the screen on the keyboard came on and all that… but I just tried plugging in an additional power source, and it still doesn't work :(

I have a ticket open with NI so hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

I have S49 Mk3 connected directly to my Mac mini via provided cable, no problems with Firmware update and works flawlessly. Maybe S61 Mk3 needs more power, hmm.

Which additional power supply did you use? Also, did you try both USB-C ports on your CalDigit TS3+ TB Dock—there is one in front and the other in the rear?

It works using the front port (5 gbps)! But not the rear port (10gbps). Thanks for the help!
