Cubase does not recognize the keyboard.

Cubase does not recognize the keyboard. Komplete Kontrol will not let me activate the ports in preferences the way the manual says. It did it once or twice, but dozens of other times it didn't.
I also cannot find seveal of the products that were supposedly part of the free download even though I sucessfully added the serial numbers to Native Access.
The Manual, Support pages and YouTube videos they send me to are all completely useless. After a week of this I'm disgusted and frustrated.

Hi, sorry your having this problem which version of cubase and OS.. I dont have a problem in cubase 13. Also I stop using it at the moment because of other issues with the software.. my does it work in standalone if so. In your daw there a keyboard icon you can select that will recognize the plugin I'm away from studio at the moment I believe it's a keyboard icon or exclamation point in the top right corner of the plugin.

Hi, thanks for the response. Funny enough, it started working right after my post last night (Komplete Kontrol allowed me to select ports and the keybpard and DAw started communicating) and it was still working when I just tried it again a few minutes ago. Not doing anything differently. I'm using Cubase 13 Pro, running everything on Windows 11, Processor is Intel 11th Gen Core i7, 2.5 GHz, 32 GB of Ram, should be plenty of computing power. One theory is that having too many ports in use on the computer itself confuses the interface between Kontrol and Cubase, I don't think so though. Hopefully it will just keep working.
Cubase does have a Midi Controller Surface Icon but I shouldn't have to manually addd Kontrol using that, it's supposed to be plug and play!
Still have no idea where to find the missing plug ins and content I was promised, but have to do other stuff and I'll get back to that later on.

@steve grill What products are missing? Have you tried to open Komplete Kontrol in standalone? Are they also missing? How do they show in Native Access? Installed?

Hello Jeremy.
The products missing are izotope Elements Suite, Komplete 14 Select and Kontak 7 Bundle. I got the serial numbers from my account after setting up my new Kontrol S49 keyboard, and Native Access said I had successfully registered these, but I cannot find them in the Library or anywhere else.
Komplete Kontrol, the keyboard and my DAW recognize Hypha and Stradivari Cello but nothing else.
I downloaded Previews which seems to be a large number of sample files and these show up in menus but I haven't figured out how to open these.
I'm new to Native Instruments and all the instructions seem to assume a level of familiarity which I don't have, but these things seem very basic and should not be so difficult, even for a newbie!
Also, Cubase still only talks to the keyboard intermittently, I usually can get it to connect by unplugging and starting over but my main reason for getting this set up was to use the keyboard inside my DAW to record VSTs in real time so this is beyond frustrating!

Forgot to mention the Guitar Rig 7, that is recognized as an effect in my DAW and I'm able to use that as well

@steve grill For the missing products, please note that the Komplete 14 Select serial you added is a bundle, not a product by itself, here is the list of products:
If products are missing, then try this:
Please delete the Native Access.xml in the following location and restart your computer and open Native Access:
Windows:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center
Mac:Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Service Center
Restart your computer.

Thank you Jeremy, I was looking for something on Native Access that said "Komplete 14 Select"but it doesn't say that which confused me, I was eventually able to figure that out as well as the Kontakt 7 Bundle.
I think Native Instruments could do a much better job of explaining things especially for new users like me, I spent a lot of unnecessary energy on this issue!
I'm still struggling with maintaining a consistent connection between the keyboard and Cubase, I'm sure there's some secret that I'm missing it would be really good if this were easy but it's not. I like figuring things out myself but this one is pretty ridiculous at this point.

@steve grill Yes, there could be some effort with onboarding new users. I'd suggest NI's Youtube channel, there are some really good tutorial videos:
Now let's get back to the keyboard. If you open the Komplete Kontrol standalone application are you able to browse presets, load, play and control them?
Did you install the Hardware Connection Service?

What differs from the article in your experience?

Hi Jeremy,
For the software products, the You Tube videos all assume more knowledge about Native Instruments than I had when I got my keyboard but now they will help me get to the next level. For example, the set up instructions explained setting up an account then registering the products but didn't explain that the Library is then automatically populated with only the bundled products, so it was very confusing. I'm used to Steinberg, where you can download products that you haven't licensed, they just sit on your computer until you get a license and activate them.
Yes to all of your other questions. For the times when the keyboard is not connecting, if I open Komplete Kontrol preferences and check the MIDI ports, the boxes are unchecked (inactive or off). Sometimes it lets me check the boxes which seems to solve the problem and other times nothing happens when I try to check the boxes. I don't understand why it doesn't let me activate those ports.
