NI Samples not working after upgrade to Kontakt and Native Access

Updated Kontakt to latest 6x version and was forced to update Native Access yesterday.
This appears to have broken a number of NI samples, which has in turn broken my projects in Logic X.
Specifically; Native Instruments Session Guitarist - Picked Guitar now says it requires Kontakt 7, when it was previously working fine.

WHY?

And how do I fix?

@ATWilson You should be able to load this library in Kontakt 7 Player. If you absolutely need the Kontakt 6 versions, you can find the installers here: Previous versions of recently updated Kontakt libraries / compatibility with K6 older libraries

I don't want to use Kontakt 7, as from what I've seen thus far, that creates more issues.

I didn't download and update the Libraries for all the instruments which are no longer working, so I don't understand what has broken them?

Is is possible to download an older version of Kontakt 6?, as that and Native Access are the only things which updated.

@ATWilson What version of Kontakt are you using now? Please click on the NI logo when in your DAW, is it the same as the standalone application?

    Hi,

    KONTAKT is now 6.8.0

    KOMPLETE KONTROL is 3.2.1

Using Logic Pro 10.7.9 with Rosetta

Not sure what you mean by NI logo in DAW?

Since the update to KOMPLETE none of my NI instruments in projects work. Can still load on the physical keyboard and play the samples, but not in Logic.

None of the sample libraries have been updated.

So you mention an update of Komplete, did you or did you not update some Kontakt libraries? Some of the latest updates to these libraries broke compatibility with Kontakt 6.

What instruments/libraries were used in these projects?

And regarding the NI logo, I mean the NI logo in Kontakt's window, when in your DAW:

    Aha. Yep, that's the same as I already mentioned;

    KONTAKT is now 6.8.0

    KOMPLETE KONTROL is 3.2.1

    Did NOT update any libraries, though have since tried to download the old version of Session Guitarist - Picked Guitar, as that was the first one I noticed was broken, and is the most crucial. However all NI instruments in projects appear to now not be working, a few;
    Noire
    Playbox
    Piano Colours
    Max Richter Piano

None of which were updated, I've checked dates of the files in my library.

    Thanks.

How do you notice it's broken? Can you describe what's happening exactly? Do you get error messages? Can you post screenshots? What's your operating system?

Any NI Instruments in existing Projects don't play.

Even trying to add NI instrument to a new blank Project, S88 comes up with message, and on-screen message (see attached) - instruments don't load into Logic. Have already rescanned Libraries, same result.

The Picked Guitar is the most crucial instrument not working.

Preview samples work OK on S88, can hear preview.

    Versions are as follows:

    KONTAKT is now 6.8.0

    KOMPLETE KONTROL is 3.2.1

Using Logic Pro 10.7.9 with Rosetta

    OS is Monterey 12.6.4

You still didn't answer this question: Have you tried to open Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol in standalone? Do all the products show up?

In Komplete Kontrol, can you check that this box is unticked:

    Hi,

Yes, Both Komplete and Kontakt load instrument samples and can be played on S88.

    No, box was not checked.

My suspicion is still that it's something to do with the update to Native Access, I saw someone else with the identical issue on the Reddit NI forum.

Weirdly, I can play and record 'Picked Guitar' in logic, and it records the Midi events, but doesn't play back.

As far as I know then KONTAKT 6.8.0 ought to be OK for use with Monterey 12.6.4 OS , but since you asked for it then I have put links to Kontakt 7.6 below though I suspect that that might just create more problems - Jeremy_NI would know better than I.

But maybe it's just me but I think that first thing to check on Mac OS if having problems after updating would be if ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon still have full disk access ? (And maybe do the same for the DAW ?) : How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS and disks must be of correct format : Notes on Network Drives and Disk Formats

    Mac: Kontakt_7_760_Mac_dmg

    UPDATE:

Downloading an older version of Komplete Kontrol (2.9.6) has fixed <some> of my problems.

I can now play and record/play back some of the NI instruments that were broken.

HOWEVER, Some projects which I used 'Plucked Guitar' in, still have the MIDI, but don't play back, even though I can record a new track with that instrument now, and it works fine (!?).

And STILL, some instruments which previously worked fine; "Ethereal Earth" now complain that they need the latest version on Kontakt. Which to me means Native Access is the culprit.

I DO NOT want to use Kontakt 7.

    Hello,

If you DO NOT want to use Kontakt 7 then, DO NOT update its libraries to their latest version, but keep the older ones, its pretty simple! :-)

There is no "culprit" here. Just new technology, new features, new options.
And of course the major libraries (at least) must have updates too, in order to match with Kontakt 7 new features or even updated older ones. So at some point it might become incompatible with older versions and this is very normal. This is how technology evolves.

Unfortunately sometimes (but thankfully, not always) developers can not please everyone. If they keep the old for the 5% of users that still insist to use it, then it will displease the other 95% who want (and use) the new…

@ATWilson If you don't want to use Kontakt 7 for some reason (you only need the free version for our libraries btw), you can find installers for the previous versions of the libraries in the link I posted earler: Previous versions of recently updated Kontakt libraries / compatibility with K6 older libraries

I am having the same issue. It broke my old sessions that were created and saved with kontakt 6.8 full version. It happened after the update of NATIVE ACCESS, not the libraries. I have read on another post thread that downgrading back to the previous version of Native Access can fix it and return it to the way it was. How do I do that and how do I prevent it from forcing Native Access update of native access itself?
