I see that it was a hardware issue indeed and the keyboard has been sent for repair.

well, turnaround was fast. It came back today. The M-Audio expression pedal (recommended by N.I.) still does not work.

Further, and I am puzzled by this: the paper inside says the keyboard was exchanged, but it isn't a new unit. On the back, the serial # is gone and the device ID has been changed. Why no serial #????

I find this entire procedure lacked any transparency. Can someone please explain what is going on? Is this S.O.P? to replace a faulty keyboard with another used one? How does this affect my warranty?

This is the reply from our Hardware Service:

The unit was replaced due to a shortage of replacement parts which would have been needed for your unit.
Hence you got a replacement unit - with a blank white sticker.

Now regarding the pedal, from what I read in your ticket, the pitch wheel and mod wheel were not functional, are they working now? So it's only the expression pedal?
