Yamaha FC-7 Expression Pedal/Komplete Kontrol problem Problem

Hi there,
This is my first go-around with such a thing, and though I've set it up exactly per instructions on NI's site, it either doesn't work at all or does strange things in LPX.
I plug it in to pedal 2, set the parameters correctly, and nothing. I try inverting, nothing.
I tried plugging it into pedal A, set the parameters accordingly, and it worked…until I hit record when I started getting recorded cello 1/4 notes (thatI'm not playing), thus making the exercise pointless.
I don't have a lot of patience with these things. 🥴
Does anyone have any experience with this combination, or can recommend an expression pedal that works with my Komplete Kontrol Mk2 keyboard?
Thanks,
Glenn

I see that it was a hardware issue indeed and the keyboard has been sent for repair.

@PreacherAtArrakeen What about when in Komplete Kontrol in standalone? Also how do you check if it's working or not? Most of our instruments have no expression set, you would need to MIDI learn a parameter to assign it to expression (CC11).

    hi, thanks for your reply.

As per instructions on NI's page, I used Komplete Kontrol in standalone, and set up the parameters according to the instructions: pedal 2, CC11, pedal open, then closed, set the range.

And how do you notice it's not working? What instruments are you loading? Have you assigned CC11 in one of these instruments?

How do I notice it's not working? There's no change in volume/timbre. I have tried it on Musio and EW OPUS, among others.
When I play it in Logic, there is nothing that corresponds with midi expression that shows up in the region midi parameters.
I have to assign this in the actual instruments themselves?

I just bought the M-Audio EX-P, and it is not configuring, either. I cannot believe such a simple thing is such a problem with this keyboard!

Further, the Touch strip works fine. I turned it off to see if that was interfering with the pedal.
Another observation: when I configure pedal A appropriately, then configure pedal B (expression) appropriately, the pedal A parameters switch to pedal B parameters.

This makes 2 pedals cited by NI that are supposed to work with this keyboard that….simply do not. Again, this should be simple. Obviously, not in this case.

Also: Logic recognizes the pedal and the input (1, 11). However, moving the pedal back and forth doesn't move the intensity from 120. Open = 120. Closed = 120. I have configured it according to NI's instructions.
I'm really not terribly impressed. The Touchstrip, on Logic, acts correctly. I'd like to play with 2 hands, though.

    Latest Sonoma, latest Logic.

CC1 is only going from on to off. Pitchbend is not working. ****** is wrong with this keyboard????????

    I need clarification.

Is this trouble happening with the MK2 keyboard, the MK3 keyboard, or both? The wording was not clear enough for me to really know. Thanks.

I can see that this is on Sonoma.

Is there anything else we should know about?

Also, one person in another thread said he had pedal success after a reboot. Don't know if it was a reboot of the computer, the KK, or both. I believe he has a MK3. But maybe try a reboot. I'd just reboot everything.

It is a mk 2. I've rebooted until the cows come home. Someone in another forum said he had the same issue and he was given a new keyboard. So, if that's the case, it is a known issue. I bought this January 2024 from Thomann, so it is still under warranty.

@PreacherAtArrakeen To be 100% sure you should double check with MIDI monitor: How to Monitor the Output of a MIDI Controller

The ultimate test is to try on another computer, if the behaviour is the same then it's definitley a hardware failure.

i've tested the midi with that app. The mod wheel flickers between 126-127 when moved, that's all.

testing on another computer is problematic, but I'll see what I can do. I have a ticket in with you, btw.

I'm loading Logic onto my wife's mac mini. I'll be back.

Ok. The results were the same. midi input into Logic is fine (from the keyboard). Both the modwheel and pitchwheel do not function.

Logic Pro 11/MacOS 14.5. It also happened in Logic Pro 10.8.1.
    So, there is your confirmation.
