S88 MkII and Yamaha FC3A pedal major issue

The problem I’m having is that with the FC3A pedal the sustain function does not engage until the pedal is depressed about 75% of the way down. This is totally unrealistic and impractical and makes piano playing with sustain pedal changes impossible. I have tried it in both A and B pedal inputs, in continuous and switch mode, and I have calibrated the pedal many times, and have also tried to mess with the midi value range to no avail. This is the pedal NI recommended for the S88 mkII, is it a problem with this particular pedal?

I am running Mac Studio M1 Ventura 13.6.7 (tho the issue has been present in all previous versions as well - I’m only getting around to posting about it now), and I use Logic Pro X fully updated but the problem is also in Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt 7 standalone modes too
