Why doesn't Studio Drummer mixer changes have any effect

Probably a newbie question: I'm using Studio Drummer in Kontakt Player 6 in Cakewalk by BandLab. It is working fine, but when I try to change the mix in the Close mics mixer nothing happens. Neither the sliders nor the Mute and Solo buttons work. When I select a mixer preset the slider positions change and the sound changes accordingly, but when I drag a drum or cymbal slider nothing happens soundwise. What may I have done wrong?

    Does it behave the same way when you run it standalone outside of the DAW?

    As a matter of fact, no. Running a groove in Kontakt 6 standalone I can change the levels of different drums and also change the effect setting (eq etc.). Is it possible this feature is disabled using it within Cakewalk?

    Ok, I created an empty Cakewalk project and added a Studio Drummer instrument with Kontakt, it works fine, the mixer works and the effects work. So it ought to be possible to make it work in my original project as well.
