Pressing "play" on my traktor kontrol s2, makes the "cue" button light up in traktor pro
I'm using a traktor kontrol s2 mk1 with traktor pro 3 on a macbook pro. Ran the setup wizard and it seems to recognize the device. I can use the browse wheel on the s2 to load tracks into both decks, but I can't get the song to play. All that happens in traktor pro is the "cue" button flashes. I've tried reinstalling the traktor pro 3 software as well as the native access app. I tried running the device updater but it says my firmware is up to date. I even downloaded traktor pro 3 to a different computer (PC) and it's doing the same thing there.

Check in the controller manager if you have multiple mappings for the same device active.

I'm not sure how I could. Under controller manager, Device→, there is a drop-down menu where you can only select one thing. It is set to "Traktor Scratch 2 default mapping - Generic Keyboard (Keyboard)"

Btw- I went ahead and deleted all of the mappings listed under the device tab. I found a mapping online from BeauBryte and downloaded it and imported it.
It FIXED my play button issue. BUT now I have a different issue. My browse wheel doesn't work as smoothly as it should. One click clockwise will move the selector down one line. Then the next click clockwise will move it down three lines. From there, a click counter-clockwise will move it up three lines, and the next click will move it up one line. All that to say that I can't just adjust the rotary sensitivity, because it seems to vary the output from line to line.

Been there already, but tried it again to be sure. This brings me back to my original problem. Play button = cue flashing and nothing else.

Strange that the custom mapping worked, but the original doesn't.
Try this: overmap the PLAY button (left and right) with the PLAY assignment (Add In..-DeckCommon-Play).

I tried that, following the instructions in this article:
https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/210311645-How-to-Add-TRAKTOR-Functions-to-a-Native-Instruments-Controller-Override-Factory-Map
The result is that no control action at all is triggered in Traktor when pressing the play button.
