Maschine Mk2 and Ableton Live 12

Looking for advice and instructions to use mi Maschine Mk2 with Ableton 12, using lite a act templates, cant understand how to use.

In preferences on Ableton 12 - link midi- not appear my Maschine mk2.

I have meticulously followed all the steps as described in the link. Yet, the Maschine template does not appear in the drop-down list of available midi control surfaces. I can choose Maschine for the input and the output, but that’s it. In midi mode I can load the Ableton Template and Ableton recognises midi input when I push buttons on the Maschine. But that’s it. So yes: frustrating… What could I have done wrong, or forgotten to do. Even more frustrating because I’ve been watching this 13 year old video. I’ ll describe it because the Native Instruments Community does not allow me to post links Channel is Dubspot video is called Using Ableton Live w/ NativeInstruments' Maschine for Production & Performance over and over again because it shows exactly what I have in mind for the use of my Maschine MK1. That is: to be able to switch from controlling the production and use it as a performance tool. For instance use the pads to trigger drumkits

So? Is there please anybody out there that can help me out.

Context:

Guitar player and a complete newbie with making electronic music.

Second hand Maschine Mk1 that runs on (supposedly) the most recent Maschine 2 software (had to buy it because no software transfer) No intention of buying other/new equipment.

Ableton Live 12 Intro. Suits me fine. By the time I’d gain international fame I’ll be around into my 70ies 😊.

Audio controlled by ASIO

Windows 11 on a refurbished laptop that has just a little more than the minimal required RAM, disc space, processor speed etc.

I'm in the same ship and have done the exact instructions and it still does not show up in my control surface drop down menu. Very frustrating hope you get an answer. Let me know if anything works for you.
