Komplete Kontrol S61 MK3 Suddenly Powering Off

My keyboard has been fine for 5 months, using the usb-C port from my computer to power itself and transfer data input.

Suddenly today the keyboard began shutting down and not powering back on. I’m concerned it may be something within the keyboard as I have heard about the many problems people have experienced with this new hardware produced by NI.

Nothing has changed about my set up, nor my computer.

Has anyone else had this experience? What hardwares issues have you had with the Mk3 yourself so far?

Want to address this while the unit it still under warranty.

As suggested by DunedInDragon then you should get an USB-C PSU (must be capable of USB-C PD as well as cable !) (I personally suggest a minimum 20W PSU to compensate for any PSU quality issues !)

You are worrying about the condition of the keyboard. But since we are talking about electronics and that your keyboard at present is powered by the computer then you might as well start worrying about the condition of the motherboard or of the computer PSU for that matter. Could also be because of changing operating temperature , you connecting equipment another place and thinking that it does not matter or other reasons. I don't know. But until the keyboard behaves the same way with a working USB-C PSU attached then I wouldn't necessarily worry about the keyboard itself if I were you !

P.S. Also check USB power management settings and any other computer settings that could influence USB operation !

You may want to try getting a separate plugin power supply for your keyboard rather than trying to run it off a powered USB port. That's pretty much a given on the S88, but I suspect the S61 wouldn't be too far behind in power demands.

This is the type of techy reply I was looking for!! Thank you for your wonderful mind and taking the time to write that up. You are good people!!!

I wasn’t even aware my PC offered usb power management settings and will be looking into that asap.

This all started to occur right after I updated Native Access but I never updated the kontrol software so I don’t see how they could be related. Maybe a windows update altered USB power settings.

Will further investigate and post my findings.

Quite honestly a simple inexpensive powered plug wall adapter would be the quickest and easiest way to ensure you're keyboard is always getting adequate power regardless of what happens on your computer. For me that's worth the peace of mind.
