Guitar Rig 5 Makes my DAW hang

I've had Guitar Rig 5 since shortly after it came out. I use it a lot. After years of carefree use, I discovered it was causing my DAW (Digital Performer) to hang on exit. I had made no upgrades to MacOS or my DAW at the time this began happening. If I deactivate GR in my DAW, everything works perfectly. When I reactivate it, pretty much every project hangs when I try to close them.

Permissions are wide open for GR5.

Any thoughts?

What version of DP are you using and what version of MacOS?

GR5 is ancient (in "software" years) - and seems to be an odd choice to lean on here in 2024.

Yes, GR5 Is old, but I try to keep software for a while if it meets my needs. No upgrades to DP, MacOS or NI for months prior to this sudden development, so I’m hoping the previous functionality could be restored. I’m a cheapskate who resists upgrades just for undocumented incompatibility issues. Might go to new version of Komplete if I must though, as I’m curious about Massive X.

And regardless of the fact that you believe nothing has changed - if it was working one minute and then not the next - something has changed

Computers cannot suddenly change course by themselves so as microscopic or unlikely as it appears - there is something different than before.

Despite Vocalpoint have asked twice now then you still have not told him what is your OS !

Is your OS MACOS 13 as on your profile ? And computer intel Mac, Processor i9 Intel ?

Did you also give full disk access to your DAW ?

Also : ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access !!!

When was the last time GR5 actually worked without issue?

About six weeks ago.

That will be a hard one troubleshoot then.

NI support for GR5 was retired years ago as was use of Catalina in late 2022 with Apple

Doubtful that you will be able to get any support on this issue.

If you do not want to brace - choose Ventura (if possible).

Sonoma will most likely result in impact.

Also note - GR5 is not supported in any of the newer MacOS releases - so that will most likely be an upgrade scenario.

FWIW: GR7 is awesome BTW.
