Recently got custom covers from 'DIGITALDECKCOVERS' and very happy with them. Had previously used them for a custom cover for my Oberheim synth, and they did great job on new cover for the S88mkIII and the S61mkIII (not shown), as well as the 'group' of my SSL controllers. Reasonably priced if you prefer this kind of cover over injected molded plastics. :)

    Nice, thanks for the review!

Just curious: Do they come in more colors than blue?

These look good. I'd love to find something similar in the UK. Shipping adds $20 to the cost. Not too bad though, if they're excellent quality.

I have a combination of cloth covers and hard plastic covers. I think I'll keep this option in mind. Their website also shows options for covering kitchen appliances! I might be convinced to get one for my Ninja Foodi, which is really the world's best rice cooker, lol!

Nice thing is they seem to do the meaasuring and fitting ahead of time to make ordering easy - like the SSL all three units. The old company (now defunct mom and pop) I had to provide measurements for each cover myself, even on a re-order for a friend or something.

I'm not interested in plastic covers because, 1) a lot of plastic, and 2) they get in the way when they're not in use (I have limited space).

I found a possible option for a microfibre cover in the EU, but I prefer cotton, and I don't know the quality of the microfibre ones. Also, Brexit. After my last order of equipment from the EU I swore never again.

Yeah, I used to have the frosted plastic ones; they got brittle, or turned yellow, or when unfolding turned into multiple colors. Yuck. I chose the non-cotton ones as less able to absorb oils or sweat from fingers, etc.

They say that you can request openings for cables. I don't want to have to unplug to put the cover on. Did you have any made like that or do you always unplug?

The old company I used had option to leave flap on back, like 1/2-inch on back vs whatever other three sides are. For the first stuff I got, the cover does bunch up over cables on back, and I totally forgot about that. Doh. For stuff like the SSL controllers, the cables are kinda at bottom so does not impact that. With the S88mkIII since I have on desk not stand, should be okay if back side sticks up a bit -- and -- I can always cut the seam on back two corners halfway to make a flap, so no money wasted.

Microfibres are usually made of polyester, polyamide, acrylic, modal, lyocell or viscose in the range of 0.5–1.2 dtex.

Polyester, Polyamide, acrylic, and probably those other things are all...well, they are plastic too. Surprise! Unless your cover is made of bamboo, wood, cotton, wolf skins, or paper, it's probably got some plastics in it. Probably.

That quoted info above is provided by ScienceDirect.com, which you can find by googling "what is microfiber made of".

** I'm neither pro-hard cover nor anti-hard cover. I have both hard and soft coverings, and I love them both. I just want to be sure that we all have CORRECT information so that we don't make uninformed (or misinformed) choices, and also so that we don't have more options taken away from us because of incorrect information.

    @BIF

    Thanks for the clarification.

I do know that microfibre and some other cotton alternatives are based in plastic, and I could have worded my post better to make it clear I was uninterested in hard plastic covers (what a difference one word can make), because there is a lot less plastic in a microfibre cloth cover vs a moulded plastic cover. There is also potential for them to be repurposed if no longer needed for equipment protection.

Generally I prefer cotton to microfibre, and the lack of plastic is much of the reason why (I also really like cotton, the way it feels and looks). Microfibre has a place (it's better for cleaning things that cotton might scratch, like my glasses) but otherwise cotton is my first choice.

For anyone who is not me: choose what works best for you.

Thanks for all the information. I'm thinking of ordering one (or maybe two to have a spare) with cable cutouts for my Push 3. I've looked around online for a while since I bought it (in the meantime it is covered with an old t-shirt) and they are the most appealing I've found.
