Just out of curiosity does anyone have a list of root keys & maschine scales that are good for either type of beats?

The root key is sort of irrelevant imo, for Trap usually the main concern is using a key where the 808's sit nicely, producers often transpose a whole project up or down so the bass hits their preferred sweet spot but this depends on how you write your bassline... it's just about not having notes so low that you can't hear them or so high it sounds like a lead.

From my observation Trap producers tend to like the Dorian and Phrygian mode, any regular minor scales as well as Harmonic minor... On melodies, there is a lot of focus on scale degrees that are a semitone apart to create a lot of tension and a spooky sound.

For LoFi the main concern is generally using Jazzy Chords (anything more complex than just triads) 7ths, 9ths, 13ths, etc... Maschine's Chords sets get jazzier (more complicated) as the chord set number goes up.

    Hope it helps.
