S88 mk2 single key rattle?

I have a used s88 mk2 which has one key that sounds different when pressed , its a rattle, anyone any idea what it could be and can I get spare spare parts?

    It's probably the felt wearing out which is common on piano action keyboards. I'd contact support as they'll have all the specification for the size and type of felt. That would be a pretty big job to take on unless you're pretty handy. You basically have to remove the keybed. And you want to do it right because you probably won't want to have to do it again for a long time.

    well I took the entire thing to bits, messed up the black contact strip, and the replacement felt which I thought would be ok was not, after touch comes on too easy. Some keys not working at all and first light is not coming on at all, so Iv buggered up my keyboard. Lesson learnt, never, ever buy form a smoker, its not worth the effort to get rid of the smoke. Iv not even used this keyboard one day and its done for.

    For anyone who has the rattle on a key, it was the case that it needed grease at the front underside of the key for each side. Be aware though, too much or not even amounts on each key will slow the key return speed, even not fully return.

    Yep, it is a common issue on the S88 after some time. Some would say, a poor design. There is actually a teardown video on YT on how to pull it apart and fix that issue. Just search Komplete S88 Teardown.

    Thanks. I did get hardware support and the answer I got back was send the whole keyboard to Germany at my own cost, and repairs at my own cost, I live in the Uk, this would cost an crazy high amount so thats not a realistic solution. I then asked about the parts I needed, I will fit them myself. The response I got was...

    "Please note that we could offer poti caps only, but no other parts are available as spare parts.

     We kindly ask you for your understanding."

    So basically once your keyboard is out of warranty there is no local repair by them and they dont sell parts, or even provide part details or numbers to search for.

    Same response i got when asking for the Foam dampening strip.

    I have no issues with tearing this apart, and I have done it now 3 times. But when you realise, that Native Instruments do not care about you once your warranty is up.

    It is actually illegal now not to supply replacement parts (especially ones that are classed as a consumable), that wear down over time. Such as the foam dampening strip, grease, etc.

    I can see a few court cases coming up in the future, every other Keyboard Manufacturer offers after-market replacement parts.

    Hell i had to buy a dampening strip from Yamaha, just guessed which would maybe fit, turned out it's not the same, but works, but is not correct. 1mm too thick and too dense a foam..

    Such an easy part for them to offer as a replacement. Both Fatar and Native instruments no longer reply to my questions regarding ordering these. Fatar are near impossible to get a reply from.
