How do I make a sound "last longer"?

Another pretty basic question: for example, if I load a piano sound into my Maschine Mk3, the sound cuts off when I release the pad. What can I do to make this sound sustain longer?

    Hi Haaaaaank,

there is an envelope option in the "plugin" menu. U can change "oneshot" to "adr/adsr". Then u can change the release time.

BUT if its a samplebased instrument, the releasetime dependa on the sample length.

Another option is addimg a reverb.

I hope it helps a bit, enjoy!

You can add a loop point for the sustain portion of the sample, so that it sustains as long as you hold a pad down. It's best that you try and make the loop start and end at a fairly similar amplitude level. You can also use a crossfade in the sampler to smooth over any abrupt changes in level.
