Opening KK3 PLUGIN 3.1.1 instance crashes Cubase 13

One of the many issues I’m chasing is, on some projects, opening the KK3 plugin GUI on an instrument that is otherwise fully loaded and playing will crash Cubase. Specifically, Cubase tries to open it, and nothing happens (no window pops up) and then within 15-20 seconds the DAW crashes

In this current project, its a Kontakt 7 based library loaded in KK3 that will crash the session. Other Kontakt 7 instances in the same session open fine.

any ideas? Cubase 13, Windows 11. Everything is up to date.

Heads' up...KK 3.1.2 just hit Native Access today. Says it fixes Cubase crashes when showing or hiding the user interface.

Likely the issue is KK V3. There are a few issues like this kicking around because it's basically a completely new design and like a v1.0 again so all the stability from the last 10 years in KK v2 is lost and there are a whole swag of issues again.

Only suggestion I have due to not being game enough to even install it on my system is if you do not own an MK3 keyboard to try roll back to v2 of the software and see if that works better. If so, maybe just wait until the release notes reflect improvements here.

@FilmCompos3r does this crash happen only with a specific instrument in KK? Could you name it?

Was this Cubase project created with the current versions of your software stack or was one of them older? E.g. was it created with Cubase 12, KK 2.9 or similar and you are now trying to load it in the recent versions?

You wrote that you are chasing several issues? Are those issues related with KK?

Which KK and Kontakt version are you using?

It would be helpful to know what instrument it is you're loading when experiencing the crash, and whether this reproduces on all instances, or just previously saved instances.

Please ensure you've installed the latest version of Kontakt 7.8.

It appears you have the latest Komplete Kontrol 3.1.1 already, so it would be good to open the standalone application and perform a plug-in rescan.

@FilmCompos3r @FelixP We've seen a few reports already, there's an open thread here: Komplete Kontrol is crashing my projects in Cubase 13 on Windows 11

Let's continue the investigation/discussion there to streamline communication.

yeah, it's frustrating to see all my non-NI plug-ins (diva, arturia) open up in Komplete Kontrol 3 with no problems yet Kontakt 7 seems to struggle.

@FilmCompos3r 3.1.0 use to crash when you close the KK window, now it crashes when you load a plugin. Kontakt 7 etc.

Kontakt 7 stand alone, or vst3 plugin, in Cubase 13 pro does not crash at all, but I have KK S88 keyboard and I would like to use that with KK software. So frustrating.

Hello, I have to version 3.1.2 installed on my MacBook Pro M2 Max laptop and last night I tried to use an instance of Komplete Kontrol to a project and it crashed Cubase 13. So I tried a to add a Komplete Kontrol as the only instrument to a new Cubase 13 project and Cubase crashed. The stand alone version of Komplete Kontrol works just fine. I tried to uninstall Komplete Kontrol and reinstall but that did not help. The only thing that fixes the problem is to run Cubase 13 in Rosetta mode then Komplete Kontrol work just fine. I am going to try and uninstall again to day as well as remove all the Plug-in file using the "How to Uninstall Komplete Kontrol" guide.
