Let's get back to the titled point of the thread, please.

If you want to go off piste and talk about anything beyond user experience feedback for Komplete Kontrol 3, you may create another thread.

Absolutely dead to rights on topic. Dirk may well have read this thread. He has quoted me in interviews in the past. OK sometimes derisively but now he sees it from the other side.

Why is there so little FX plugin support for NKS? Because you didn't make a Komplete Kontrol FX. Not even for the FX plugins you control. Such as the enormous portfolio you bought from him. So no integration with the nifty hardware or ecosystem.

You didn't even manage to get a unified installer built yet. That does indeed look like a very unhappy marriage. You can't add assets to an installer? Nope, it's clearly not can't...somebody won't.

Around this time I'd write in asking to have my name pulled from the splash screen if I had left. Use Alan Smithee or something if it's important to have a long list of names there to appear functional. I would guess the names come out soon, though in general I do like people signing their work. However, it should be made clear who had final authority on shipping a profoundly unfinished product so that the actual talent doesn't feel more ashamed than they already must.

Was the hardware subcontracted out? I can totally believe this hardware was done in healthy circumstances and the software was done in-house. "Oh we worked closely" nah they saw what you were trying to do better than you did.

These issues are all that matters. Solve the personnel problems and everything else as I said is a few weeks of mopping up. These requests have been known so long that only willful neglect would keep them unfinished.

I would be surprised if Dirk didn't leave (and loudly) for reasons other than this sort of thing. Small busineses built on this platform say the same things. The message is being sent low and high, but you're still thinking about skiing.

Thank you for the specific feedback on Komplete Kontrol user experience (the point of this thread):

    ---

"Why is there so little FX plug-in support for NKS?"

Yes, it's true we didn't make a Komplete Kontrol FX channel-strip, yet. That may well happen at some point. It's always been an instruments first experience, with the keyboards thought of as instrument controllers first and foremost.

    ---

    "Was the hardware subcontracted out?"

No. Software and Hardware done in-house for this product.

    ---

For questions of unified installation, I'd direct you to create or join a thread in the Native Access area of the forum, and @Hayo_NI . But there is a lot of effort in this regard - it takes a lot of time to pull multiple brands together, without disrupting existing users of those brands.

I was making audio plugin installers probably before you were born it sounds like. Oh and Dirk, (who has referred to me as "old"...) we're about the same age...I just started when I was a kid.

Anyway, no changes recommended in the hardware group. It's hard to get a management to fire itself, but it does happen. Even Dunning-Krugers get overcome with guilt.

Let's not assume demographics. We were so close to staying on topic!

I mentioned Conway's Law in another thread. That is probably why Maschine integration was dropped in the mk3 keyboards, it was probably too hard to sync up separate teams (although I know the cover story was that those features weren't used very much). Your enthusiast teachers on Youtube weren't happy about it.

Point being is the user experience is a direct expression of the quality of a company's management. There are logistical things like Conway's, but there's also the software designer's curse, which is that everyone in an organization is convinced they are capable at software design, and think the software designer is just there to make it pretty. A Dunning-Kruger situation that relies on outside criticism to be revealed, because designers don't last long if they are insubordinate and tell management they've lost the plot. Instead, KK3 is pretty...the designer actually did a great job visually...but that was all they were allowed to do. KK2 had a worse user interface but better user experience.

That means it was a better run company.

Opportunity cost is a far greater loss to a firm than the direct losses that will cause a board to step in and right things too late. If you are two months away from radically expanding the potential of your platform, and you're scolding people on user forums instead...smh. Entrepreneurs who actually build companies understand this, we learned this in the 90's where the loss of technical founders meant the end of a tech company. Dirk built one of these businesses (and I paid him a few thousand dollars for doing so!) and apparently couldn't get this message across. Nor can anyone it appears.

My hobby is too easy. Anyway that's all I had to say.

This is a topic about Komplete Kontrol 3 user experience feedback.

It's not scolding to ask that people remain on topic and refrain from assumptions of any protected category, such as age, nor to make inaccurate assertions (e.g. Maschine integration was dropped because very few used it, thus it was deprioritized in favour of other items. Nothing more, nothing less).

If you must pontificate, start another thread and do it there.

Here's a direct question very much on topic about the KK3 user experience:

Is there any chance at all that in 2024 we will be able to view the KK3 browser and the active instrument simultaneously on the desktop screen? Or is this 100% a dead part of the user experience?

Just want to know if I should stop hoping for this...

    Thanks for the answer.

Guess part of me will still hope some minds get changed on this....sigh...

Is there a technical reason this is difficult to do?

It's hard to see how sample drag and drop can be restored without this, unless we get something like the Files browser in Kontakt but that seems a clunky approach

I don't really see the point of even having a sample browser if you can't use it to drag samples into plugins like Battery or Form

Imagine how clumsy this might be if NI tries to somehow do this with the on-device screen and on-device buttons... a very "anti-user experience".

    barf.
